21.01.2022 I am thrilled today to announce the launch of my new report 'Ageing Well in a Changing World'. Supporting older people to age well must become a priority... No...t only because it is the right thing to do for seniors and their loved ones, but because it's beneficial for our society as a whole. Writing this report, and hearing from thousands of senior Victorians about their experiences of what it means to age well, has been an enormous privilege for me. I have embraced this opportunity with both hands, and am delighted to be sharing my findings with you all today. Please take some time to read the full report at https://www.seniorsonline.vic.gov.au/ageing-well and I’d be happy to answer your questions in the comments section below. Please also join me for the launch at 4pm on Facebook Live to hear more.

20.01.2022 One of our members, the Consumer Policy Research Centre, investigated how hard CALD communities were hit by COVID-19. The result? They were hit super hard. Har...der than the average. Much higher levels of debt, ripping cash out of super and seeking emergency relief for everyday expenses... SBS have produced this report.

We e...nvisage a world where every person, no matter their gender or the way they dress, feels safe and has the opportunity to grow and thrive in school, at home, at work and in the community. 08.01.2022 October is National Mental Health Month, and it has never been more important than in 2020. I am proud to be joining the Mental Health Foundation Australia tomo...rrow, as keynote speaker for their Virtual Mental Health Forum on Seniors' Mental Health. This year has not been easy. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a particular impact on the mental wellbeing of seniors. Mental health issues are often under-identified by healthcare professionals and older people themselves, and the stigma surrounding these conditions makes people reluctant to seek help. Together, we can work to provide better support for and understanding of the mental health issues facing older people. Join the event tomorrow - Wednesday 21 October at 1pm - to hear from myself and other industry experts, and help address this important issue. Register at: https://www.mhfa.org.au//21-october---seniors-mental-healt #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #wellbeing

07.01.2022 Moving in with family can be a positive move for many older people, and often these arrangements work well. Talk to your friends and other family members about these questions and make sure you have a written agreement in place before moving in. If you need assistance with elder abuse, please contact our ROSE (Rights Of Seniors in the East) team on 0429 697 960, email [email protected] or contact Eastern Community Legal Centre on 1300 32 52 00.

05.01.2022 'The 2020 National NAIDOC Poster, Shape of Land, was designed by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar and Saibai Islander man. Tyrown’s artwork tells the story of how the Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.'
