17.01.2022 EHSHS P&C urgently requires a new Treasurer. At our recent AGM, we had a great show of support from school parents and the community, with many new members committing to the membership for 2020. Unfortunately, the role of the treasurer is yet to be filled.... The EHSHS P&C urgently requires a Treasurer. The position of Treasurer is key to the continuation of the P&C association. Without this role fulfilled the EHSHS P&C will be required to cease operation. This will mean: The Canteen will shut down with the loss of some passionate and valuable employees. The P&C directly manages the Canteen and its finances. There will be no more fundraising to enable the P&C to fund school events/purchases such as: - RAC Bstreetsmart Road safety event - During 2019 the P&C funded the bus fare so there are no costs passed onto parents. - Contribution to Interschool swimming and athletics carnival costs. This lessens the cost to parents. - Contributions to Student scholarships. - Contributions to academic awards. - Contributions towards the school yearbook. - Contribution towards the recent Yarning circle project. - Contribution to purchasing light pads for the Art department. - Assistance to the Music department in managing funds raised and disbursed to ensure the continued success of the music program. - Throughout the year there are numerous requests to fund activities or purchases from the various learning departments. We assist where we can to reduce costs borne by parents and to increase the opportunities available to all students. Once established, the Treasurer's duties will take approximately 1 hour per week plus meetings which are typically 1 to 2 per term. If you should be interested in the position of Treasurer I am happy to be contacted directly. The previous Treasurer will be on hand to give you all of the training/mentoring that you need so that you can confidently take the role on. Thank you Jason Dilley 0409 099 667 [email protected]

15.01.2022 Hello All. Our P&C is attempting to hold a General Meeting on Wednesday 19 February at the School at 7.30pm This is a second attempt to hold this meeting as late last year we did not get 10 people to attend to be able to legally hold the meeting... Yes we could not get 10 people to attend or meeting out of the parents of our more then 900 students If we unable to have people to attend this meeting then the P&C will not be able to function. That means the P&C will no longer exist. if this occurs then the school will see some changes, for example: NO CANTEEN NO FUNRAISING FOR MANY PROJECTS/IMPROVEMENTS NO STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS REDUCTION IN SPORTING RELATED STUDENT AWARDS If any of you can spare an hour on Wednesday 19th February at 7.30pm then could you please attend this meeting We promise that people will not be pressured into P&C roles. We just need numbers to be able to run the meeting and function Regards Neil Robinson Former P&C President

14.01.2022 School and Community News..... There seems to be a bit of an issue arising about access to Eastern Hills by students who do not live in our local intake area. I have attached a statement which should make our position clear. It is the standard Dept. policy. We are a local intake, we have to provide a place for all those students who reside within the area. We do take applications from people who live outside our local intake area, we do consider the placement of siblings acc...ording to the Dept. policy. The school is a popular option both for enrolment at the commencement of a year and also for transfer enrolments during the year. In a typical year, we grow in number from census to the end of the year. In our planning, we have to be mindful of this situation to ensure that all students residing in the local intake area are accommodated. We consider all enrolments from outside the local intake area but this has to be weighed against Dept. policy and guaranteed access for all local intake residents. Enrolment packs will be sent to all local intake schools during the year and also some will be made available to non-local intake schools for parents who may wish to make application on the basis of the dept. policy. Regards, John Dunning Principal Eastern Hills Senior High School An Independent Public School
