25.01.2022 Yesterday the team had the first game of the 2020-21 season, and it was a good one. Though the weather was not ideal the team gave it their all and went down 17-11 to Central. It was a game well played and a promising start to the season! It's great to be back on the diamond!
24.01.2022 WINNERS! After an ordinary start to the A Reserve Grand Final, our Lightning girls were a long way behind. At one point we were 9 runs down. Our girls stuck together and never gave up. Aggressive base running and a reduction in fielding errors saw a steady improvement in the scorebook. Going in to the bottom of the 7th, we needed 7 runs to win. Smart batting and perseverance saw us decrease the margin. With 2 out and 2 runners on base, we needed 2 runs to win. A homerun hit b...y Lillie saw the 2 runners (Cindy and Anna) cross home plate and seal the WIN for Eastern Lightning 28-27. It was a great game against the Storm. Although everyone was exhausted at the end of the 2 hours and 45 minutes, we were thankful to have been a part of such an exciting and hard fought match. Congratulations also to Central and Raiders who battled it out in the A Grade Grand Final. Central came away with the win 19-1.
23.01.2022 A great team effort by our Lightning girls yesterday, defeating the Storm 28-1. Windy conditions made fielding difficult for both teams. Our pitcher-catcher combo had great success and our outfielders made some big throws to get vital outs. Congrats to all our new players, who all got solid hits and runs scored. Well played Eastern Lightning :)
23.01.2022 Our game on Saturday was warm and sunny!! We played Central at 4:30pm. After a great first dig, we were up 4-1. Our very own Amy was having a cracking game as pitcher. She kept Central under pressure and struck out six batters. Our fielders were kept busy, mainly dealing with the sun in their eyes! With plenty of stealing from base runners in both teams, the game was action packed!! We had our chances but in the end Central defeated us 10-9. It was a great game by our Lightning players. Our pitcher Amy was the glue that held us all together. She is a very deserving winner of the Lightning Legend tshirt this week.

21.01.2022 The Southern Tasmanian Softball Association hosted the annual 'Corrie Jones Day' on Saturday. Six teams enjoyed a round robin competition of Social 7s Fully Loaded softball. Players of all ages and abilities enjoyed the 1980s themed day. With hits of the 80s playing on the load speaker all day, there was some quality dancing, mega cool costumes and radical mullets scoring plenty of runs. Thanks to Ev Seabourne and STSA for putting on another successful and inclusive day of social softball. We loved it!

19.01.2022 Round 2 of the 2018/19 season was played yesterday. Our Lightning girls took on the mighty Raiders Softball Club and enjoyed a great game of batting, for both teams. Eastern Lightning held on for the win 15-14. This was a fine effort considering we were one player short for the second half of the game. Well played girls! Eastern Lightning has the BYE next Saturday. Our next game will be the double header on Saturday 27th October (12:30pm and 2:30pm).
17.01.2022 Today we had our first Eastern Lightning game back after the summer break. We played Raiders at 12:30, with Lightning going down by one run in the end. It was a good game with good batting and baserunning. Congratulations to Steph for being this week's Lightning Legend. It was her first game this season, and her first game with Lightning in a while. She did some great batting and was a team player all the way. Great job and welcome back Steph! Congratulations also go to Kate and Jane who both walked away with MVP for STSA Blue and STSA Gold respectively at the Tasmanian Open Womens State Championship in January. We had lots of Lightning representation across both teams, but Kate and Jane both had standout performances earning each of them the Lightning Legend title. Keep up the good work Lightning!
16.01.2022 Last night we had our first Thursday Evening game for the season, against Raiders. Both teams played a good game, with Lightning going down with 10 runs to Raider's 13. We played well as a team, adjusting to the wind and the setting sun. Great game girls! We'll be back on the diamond tomorrow at 12:30 for a game against Storm Clouds.
16.01.2022 Wowzers! What a HUGE day! Thank you to all our club members who came to help sell some snags at Bunnings today. We raised plenty of $$$ for Eastern Lightning and we had some fun along the way. It was a real team effort...valuable in more ways than one.
16.01.2022 Some legends working hard on the tools! Successful day so far! Couple of trips to the shops to get more snags! Thanks to everyone who has dropped into help!
14.01.2022 Big day yesterday for Eastern Lightning with two games, and pink day filling the afternoon. First up, all dressed up in pink, we played Storm Clouds at 2:30. A really fun game from which we walked away with a victory. Following this we played Raiders again at 4:30. The game was of a high quality with both teams leaving their all on the diamond. Raiders walked away with the victory for that game. Overall it was a really great day, and a massive thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, especially STSA and the Umpires.
14.01.2022 We want to thank our mates at MealMachines in Rosny Park. Not only did they provide us with generous sponsorship $$ this season but they also let us have our end of season function at their place too! We were treated to delicious and healthy burgers at a sit down dinner for our Eastern Lightning members and their guests. The food was fresh, the drinks were refreshing and the desserts were top notch. Thank you Meal Machines for a brilliant night! We really enjoyed ourselves and loved the friendly atmosphere your staff provided. It was a great way to finish off our 2018/19 softball season xx
13.01.2022 Our third and fourth games of the season were played yesterday - in unusually cold conditions. The Eastern Lightning girls enjoyed a fun match against the youngsters of the Development team at 12:30. Then it was Lightning V Storm in the 2:30 timeslot. The sun was trying hard to warm us up and thankfully the rain held off. Great team batting and solid work in the infield saw Eastern Lightning come away with a 26-8 win. Well done everyone!! :)
12.01.2022 Yesterday we had our second game for the week against Storm Clouds. Lightning came away with the win after both teams put up a good game. We both batted and fielded well, with many players trying different positions on the diamond. Great job Lightning!
10.01.2022 On Saturday we got another game under our belt. We played a good game at 12:30 against Raiders; getting off to a slow start until we found our groove. Final score was 16 - 7 with Lightning for the win. Good Game Girls!!!
08.01.2022 Finally some proper softball weather! Yesterday we played a good game against Storm, though we went down 13-7 in the end. We kept fighting, with our batting and fielding improving as the game went on. Hopefully the weather is just as good next Saturday for our 12:30 game against Central.

06.01.2022 Game 1 of the 2018/19 season at the Southern Tasmanian Softball Association was played yesterday! Our Lightning girls were keen to get out on the sunny diamond after many cold Sunday training sessions! We were up against the strong and experienced Central Bears. Both teams batted well and one big inning from Central saw them bring 7 runners across the plate, taking the final score to 16-6. Eastern Lightning may have lost the game but our newbies played really well...and our not-so-newbies were pleased to get some big outs and solid hits. We look forward to our second game Saturday 13th October at 4:30pm :)
05.01.2022 Rock on down to softball town (Softball Park, Gepp Parade, Prince of Wales Bay). Today our Eastern Lightning girls will play their Grand Final against the Storm at 12:30pm. Then at 2:30pm will be the A Grade Grand Final between Raiders V Central. We're looking forward to a ripper day! GO LIGHTNING!
04.01.2022 Our Eastern Lightning girls have returned from the mid-season break after enjoying a warm Hobart summer. On Saturday 2nd Feb, some of our Lightning members (and their family/friends) enjoyed an awesome day of Social 7s slowpitch softball. This is known as 'Corrie Jones Day'. This annual one-day event is hosted by Southern Tas Softball Association. 8 teams played in the round robin comp this year. We had a blast! The winner on the day was SOFTBALL :) On Sat 9th Feb we returne...d to our 'normal' fastpitch softball format. We suffered two losses to Central and Raiders. On Sat 23rd Feb we went down to the Raiders again, by 4 runs. With only 5 rounds left in season 2018/19, we wish our girls well as they head towards the finals. Thanks to all our fans who show up to our games....especially our littlest lightning legends #5, #4 and #5 :)
03.01.2022 We want to say a massive thank you to Matt McKay from Raw Strength Tasmania. We were fortunate to get some 1-on-1 targeted strength training tonight. Matt put us through our paces and showed us how to do weight training safely and effectively. We also learnt some awesome mobility and foam rolling exercises too. Do yourself a favour....go to Raw Strength in the new Meal Machines building at Rosny Park. Matt is welcoming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He will help you get energised and strong......and you'll have fun too!! :)
03.01.2022 Yesterday we played Storm in our 2nd game for the week, our first having been a loss against Central on Thursday night. Storm and Lightning both played an exciting game, with lots of good batting, fielding, and base running. In the end Lightning walked away with the win, both teams having played a great game. Special mention to Ange who is the Lightning Legend for Saturday's game, having done excellent fielding at 2nd, hitting a killer home run, and being an absolute legend. Great job Ange!

Congratulations Raw Strength and Meal Machines. We look forward to hanging out at your place heaps!
01.01.2022 Yesterday we enjoyed the second game of the season. The weather was more suited to the aquatic, but we played a great game, finishing with a 26-to-5 victory against Storm Clouds. All players gave it their all, and it was a truly well played game. A great continuation of the season and can't wait to get back on the diamond next Saturday at 12:30
01.01.2022 Our Eastern Lightning girls have been busy over the last few weeks! We had a great game against the mighty Central Bears but went down 14-7 in the end. The Bears had one big innings and scored 7 over the plate in one dig. Apart from that we played consistent and competitive softball and our outfielders did a brilliant job! In the next match, our girls played the Raiders. We jumped out of the box early and scored plenty of runs. The final score was Lightning 24, Raiders 7. Great fielding by our short stop and aggressive base running helped us notch up the win. Well done girls!! Good luck this week! Three more games until the Christmas break :)
01.01.2022 Come on down and grab a snag at Bunnings Glenorchy. We are here from 9 til 4
