17.01.2022 Art in early childhood is very important and takes on many different forms - particularly when open ended. An excursion to Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park offered Eastern Region FDC children an opportunity to be immersed in a world of large sculptures - to see, feel and share their interpretations of the different perspectives of sculptures and what they represent. Such an inspiring environment that merged nature and man made creativity. We discussed what sculptures were and ...made of, had conversations about reflection, explored design, scale, and then got creative with drawings. Photos were taken to extend the experience later either by drawing or another medium such as clay, collage, box art.... We will go back!

This young dinosaur fan enjoyed Neelu (from Neelu's Happy Home FDC) reading this book from his new pack this morning. 13.01.2022 Eastern Region Family Day Care coordinators are once again visiting educators this time to provide 4 year olds (who haven't received a pack through a registered kindy) with their Better Beginnings pack. These book bags were an instant hit, even carried down the slide once the Scary Night story was read, with relief and laughter at Milas Homebase childcare. Many thanks to Morgan (Shire of Mundaring Libraries) for organising and delivering our packs.

12.01.2022 How to talk about PERSONAL SAFETY WITH CHILDREN. Having conversations about personal safety should not be scary for children. Being open and approachable is the most important thing. Discuss who children can talk to if they feel unsafe and what they... can do. Practise using stories and scenarios to problem solve. Do not always make these about strangers. Reinforce basic safety messages and ensure children know the phone numbers of people they can call for help or to talk to. Explain it is okay to say No to an adult or child if they are doing something that is not okay or makes the child feel unsafe. Let your child know they will not get into trouble if they tell you about an unsafe secret someone has asked them to keep. Remind your child that it is always okay to talk to you - no matter what the issue. You care about them and want to help them to stay safe. A message from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation

09.01.2022 The WA Department of Education has begun the first step in a process that will allow Noongar language to be formally taught in schools, just as Asian and European languages are.
