25.01.2022 If NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is willing to lie about privatising buses, what about our water services, trains or hospitals?

24.01.2022 Good to know that under Labor Waverley Council became part of the Cities Power Partnership... https://www.smh.com.au//as-a-grandma-to-be-i-can-no-longer

24.01.2022 Members of Eastern Suburbs Left joined the protest against the religious exemptions bill. The bill is a direct attack on the minority communities, including LGBT communities. It isnt a bill to protect against religious discrimination; its a bill that gives religious people and institutions the right to discriminate against minorities.

23.01.2022 Remember to stay safe today.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Georgina Goddard and Sam Prideaux who were recently elected on a YLL Democratic Socialist ticket to lead Sydney Young Labor.

21.01.2022 Abortion has been decriminalised in NSW! Finally after years of handwork by activists.

18.01.2022 If anyone wanted to come along to this protest, a few of us from Eastern Suburbs Left will be there tomorrow. Send us a message on Facebook if you wanted to join the Eastern Suburbs Left contingent to the protest.

17.01.2022 Australias refugee policy has effectively criminalised seeking asylum. If you end up in immigration detention, on average, you will spend more time in immigration detention than a person who has a jail sentence.

17.01.2022 IT'S ON! OUR FINAL SAY ON OUR POST OFFICE! 17 DEC 9:15AM! ONSITE! PLEASE COME AND SHOW THE COURT HOW MUCH YOU CARE! The Land & Environment Court will be meeting for the last time to make their final and binding decision about our Bondi Beach Post Office. It is vital that as many of our community as possible turn up at this hearing, bearing in mind that it is 9:15am on a Tuesday morning. If you wish to give evidence supporting the detrimental effect of the removal of both this well-loved public space with its trees, shade, and public seating and the very busy Post Office that supports all the community including residents, local businesses, visitors etc, please come and speak!

14.01.2022 The COVID19 & climate change crises demand that the Labor Party pursue an enviromental program based on solidarity not division. Nick Daniel and Charlotte Brady on why we still need a Green New Deal. https://www.unprecedentedtimesmagazine.com/article2

12.01.2022 We are in a Climate Emergency. With smoke filling NSW and the air quality beyond hazardous levels, it is impossible to deny this has been caused by climate change. The climate is doing more than just changing, it is now deadly. If anyone wants to join Eastern Suburbs Left at the rally send us a message on Facebook.

11.01.2022 Fossil fuel companies are directly responsible for destroying our environment. Not only have companies created and profited off this disaster, but they have also paid no tax. Firefighters are risking their safety and communities are being destroyed due to the ignorance of fossil fuel companies and supporters like Scott Morrison.

11.01.2022 LAST REMINDER! BE THERE 9:15AM TOMORROW BONDI BEACH POST OFFICE! The developer, Taylor Constructions, summarised that "no social impacts are expected by the proposal." p62 Statement of Environmental Effects. Replacing public space with private space is obviously not a social impact!

10.01.2022 Pop-Up COVID-19 clinic to open at Bondi Pavilion Wednesday 1 April Waverley Council is supporting NSW Health by providing the High Tide Room at Bondi Pavilion for use as a community COVID-19 screening clinic.... The St Vincents Hospital-run clinic will be open from 9am to 4.00pm seven days a week for those who meet the testing criteria. For more about visiting the clinic, visit: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//Pa/coronavirus-clinics.aspx

10.01.2022 Australias cruel treatment of asylum seekers and refugees continues. The two Saudi journalists have received threats and fear for their lives inside Australias detention centres. While Behrouz Boochani received freedom this week in New Zealand, the sole reason for his detainment was Australias policy of indefinite detention. We cannot let this continue.

09.01.2022 WE LOST... This is development at its worst. The community ignored. "The decision to remove the post office use from the Post Office building is a decision that was made by the then owner and operator, Australiapost." This is not strictly true - the fudging that went on over this issue is disgraceful. Australia Post had promised a 5 x 5 lease on the new premises. What happened to that promise Australiapost? A disgusting decision. ... Waverley Council you need to make good the following "A further condition will require the Applicant to provide some seating with the benefit of street tree shading in the Hall Street road reserve if the Council wishes it to do so." 09.01.2022 Whitehaven Coal has already unlawfully taken surface water. They are now being investigated for stealing groundwater from farmers after their bore water ran dry. The Morrison government has allocated $500 million to a drought stimulus plan that has no concrete targets, goals or planned outcomes. Further, the stimulus is nothing when compared to the $4.4 billion in subsidies the government will be giving to the Adani mine or the $29 billion in Australias fossil fuel subsidies last year.

08.01.2022 BREAKING: The Morrison Governments Union Abusing Bill has been DEFEATED.

08.01.2022 There are so many heroes out there giving their all during this unprecedented crisis. Thank you for keeping Australia moving.

07.01.2022 If we want real action we need to demand it. Today, protests will be held across Australia to call on the government to pay all firefighters, provide genuine to affected communities and have a just transition away from fossil fuels.

06.01.2022 The obsession with a surplus has done nothing to address stagnant wages or the rising cost of living. We need a shift in policy that prioritises the working class people of Australia, not a budget surplus. The current system favours high-income earners. An analysis by the Australia Institute earlier this year found 54% of tax benefits go to the top 20% of income earners, whereas only 3% goes to the bottom 20%.

04.01.2022 9:15AM TUES 17 DEC 2019 ONSITE! POST OFFICE FINAL RECKONING! STAND STRONG AND LET THE COURT KNOW NEXT TUESDAY THAT OUR POST OFFICE - THE BUILDING AND SERVICE NEEDS TO STAY! We are a close community let the Court know that let them know how much we care for our residents, our heritage and our environment SEE YOU THERE! STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!

03.01.2022 The NSW Government is looking into changing the planning laws so that mines cannot be rejected on climate grounds. The two mines that were rejected, the Rocky Hill and Bylong Valley coal mines would have destroyed the local communities, the agricultural jobs in that area and would increase emissions. Australia is already seeing the impacts of climate change through droughts and extreme weather events. Unfortunately, it will only get worse if we open new coal mines.

02.01.2022 SAVE OUR POST OFFICE! 9:15 TUES MORNING 17 DEC Quote from Episode 9 of the 2019 ABC show Gruen: The Post Office is still a community hub .. and you bump into your neighbours in there if you are disconnected its a good place to go and chat to people and feel like youre part of something and I think that is the actual benefit of Australia Post they have the bricks an mortar and you can go and interact face to face... Claire Salvetti from One Green Bean
