09.01.2022 Below is a great response from Bowls Australia CEO Neil Dalrymple in regards to the GCLDBA reversing their decision to play womens pennant on Saturdays. Such a... shame we have missed the opportunity to pioneer something so desperately needed for womens bowls. I know there are other districts in the country playing ladies pennant on the weekend, my intent is not to disrespect those few, however if a powerhouse region like the Gold Coast was to make a ground breaking change to womens pennant, others would stop and take notice. All those local women who might be intrigued by Lawn Bowls during the Commonwealth Games (pre and post games also) wont be able to play outside work hours so we will lose them before they have even started! Perhaps a mid week and weekend ladies pennant could be run. As per the vote, 65% of GC bowlers will play Friday pennant, and I bet more than the 35% who voted for Saturday pennant would play on the weekend too!! I was looking forward to playing a regular womens comp without juggling work or putting my daughter into daycare but I guess Ill have to wait till 2019 to see change here on the Gold Coast. #timeforchange #womeninsport

02.01.2022 The new greens at Lakes Entrance are almost finished with the club house green now in use. The back green will be finished in the next week. Timed at 15 seconds the Tiger Turf woven synthetic is a joy to play on.
