23.01.2022 Penny Carruthers The Circle Graphite on paper | $480 The circle represents the divine life force, a symbol of vitality, wholeness, healing, completion and perfection, infinity. I have created a wreath of the bleached bones and detritus of animal, fish, bird and plant. Fragmented and scattered, the circle broken. I want these bones, this empty nest, the dead wombat’s joeys and fire to symbolise the mourning and the grief we should be experiencing from the wanton destruction of... our beautiful and fragile environment. To think outside our anthropocentric mindset. To understand and embrace that we as humans, are just one small and expendable part of an astonishing beautiful and fragile circle.
