20.01.2022 Morton’s Neuroma (or neuritis)... Have you heard if this before? What is Morton's Neuroma? It is the inflammation of a nerve that runs between the long bones in the ball of the foot (metatarsals). It can result in shooting pain, tingling, numbness and swelling. The pain is usually exacerbated by walking or standing on tiptoes. With some pre-round robin competition coaching... ending the afternoon with the winner of the competition... ... Sadly we just missed out on the trophy Hopefully next year we will take it out! 12.01.2022 If you feel like you’ve tried all of the options for ingrown nails, but are still constantly fighting pain and recurring infections, we can help! You've tried ...it all... Cut a ‘V’ in it Antibiotics after antibiotics Change your shoes Don’t cut down the side ‘wait for it to grow out’ Maybe its time to call East Gosford Podiatry to have it fixed once and for all. Having a long term or recurring ingrown nail can cause swelling, inflammation and long-term soft tissue changes along the side of the nail. This can increase the irritation of an ingrown nail, ensuring you never get out of the pain cycle. There is another option. A podiatrist can do a relatively simple procedure in the clinical rooms, that will permanently reduce the width of your troublesome nail. With very little change to the look of you nail, and with a very short recovery time, you can be free from your ingrown nail permanently. The procedure is called a partial nail avulsion. Under a local anaesthetic, the offending portion of nail is removed. A small amount of Phenol is applied to the nail bed or matrix to prevent the nail regrowning, and Bob’s your uncle. 06.01.2022 The warmer weather is here! Longer hours of daylight allows us to get out into the fresh air and get back into our running routines... Are you starting to prepare for a fun run? Is it your goal to get fit for 2021? Or would you like to increase your running endurance? Check out our Top Tips below to help prevent any injuries whilst you get into it!.... 1. Start off slowly, even if you want to do more! Try the 10% rule - increasing your running output by no more than 10% per... week. 2. Apply the 'little and often' rule as you begin. Your feet, ankles and hips will thank you! You will likely cope a lot better with shorter runs to start with. 3. Keep a training diary to monitor your runs, of what you do and when, how long you go for and the type of runs... that way it is easier to see your progress! 4. Listen to your body.... As you get going, you may notice little niggles or pains - If something persists on several similar runs don't ignore it, hoping it will go away... Book an appointment with your Podiatrist to fix any concerns! 5. Vary the terrain and surfaces you run on. Don't only run on one running surface - mix things up! Try the path, grass, trails, road or beach!
