19.01.2022 Throwback Thursday # 5: Alan Davidson Shield and When EHBHS Ruled Cricket (1991) EHBHS has such a rich sporting history and several former students going onto illustrious sporting careers. For this week’s Thursday Throwback, we go back to 1991 and our successful Alan Davidson Cricket Shield cricket team. They had already won the Alan Davidson Shield in 1990 and according to The Torch news article, they passed Orana H.S. in in the quarter finals the following year Can any f...ormer students/players tell us what happened after this quarter-final victory? Did we win the semi-final and make the final? East Hills on Target for a Cricket Title THE TORCH, Wednesday, March 13, 1991 East Hills Boys’ Technology High School took yet another step towards back to back Alan Davidson Cricket Shield titles with a win over Orara High School titles with a win over Orara High School in a quarter final match last Wednesday. The combined High School competition is sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank, and East Hills took the title in 1990 with a win over Orara, who they also defeated in the final of the Dexion all-schools trophy last December. It was not to prove third time lucky for Orara as East Hills proved again their superiority over the team from the north coast. The quarter-final match was played at Brelsford Park, Coffs Harbour. East Hills won the toss and scored 8/163 from their 40 overs. Paul Crossan top scored with 57, and was ably assisted by Adam Fairley 23, Justin Holbrook 21 not out and Adrian Barlow20. Opening batsman Crossan was involved in a number of important partnerships, 38 with Fairley, 33 with Barlow, and 37 with John Byrom (15).
