25.01.2022 TIME FOR THE BIG KIDS!!! Our babies enjoyed their time in the mud yesterday; now its time for the Kids. Look at those happy faces of our under 5s. Today we have 4 games down at Smith from 1100am; including our Open Ladies League Tag, kicking off at 200pm and our Under 23s from 310pm. ... REMINDER: We welcome spectators to Smith Park today; we just ask for you to follow some now very familiar new normals: social distancing hand hygiene And of course, if you arent feeling flash, maybe give this week a miss and we will see you next time. The BBQ will be cranking - when you buy lunch, clean your hands with the hand sanitiser available. The canteen/bar will be open - when you buy some red frogs or a beer, you clean your hands! Also, we require all visitors to sign in using our QR code system. Follow the signage at the ground and lets check everyone safe. We look forward to seeing you at Smith today, just from a distance.

On the back of the success of these events over the past few years, East Hills Bulldogs are running a series of TRY FOOTY nights this preseason. TRY FOOTY nights are suitable for boys and girls aged between 4 and 11 years, who want to TRY FOOTY in an obligation free, safe environment - focused on fun and participation. No previous experience in playing footy is required. ... East Hills Bulldogs are running three (3) TRY FOOTY nights this preseason, details are below: WHERE: Smith Park, 23 Lehn Road, East Hills TIME: 500 pm DATES: Thursday 4 March, Thursday 11 March and Thursday 25 March 2021. 22.01.2022 ATTN: MEMBERS We have been asked by NSWRL to minimise all spectators at the Grounds for Training. Our Executive has discussed this with our Coaches of our Junior Teams. It was agreed, the only possible way of doing this effectively, while ensuring child safety would be cancel training for tonight for all junior teams and again review the situation over the weekend. Regarding our Senior teams; we have limited to nil spectators for these training sessions. These sessions teams will training as normal.

19.01.2022 VALE PEGGY SMITH! East Hills Bulldogs would like to pass on our condolences to the Smith family on the passing of Peggy Smith, wife of Bob Smith and mother to our long servicing President Mark Smith (Snail). Peggy was known and respected by many across the East Hills/Panania area, simply known to many as Mrs Smith. She was a familiar face in the local area, spending many years in the family home in Fenton Street, Panania before moving into a care home for her final years, wh...ere she passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon. Our thoughts are with Steven, Jan, Peter, Robert and Snail (or as Mrs Smith would call him - Mark) and their families. Much Love.

However..., we do need to worry about the NSW Government Covid guidelines that we need to follow for rugby league to continue for the rest of the season. It is a requirement that we limit spectators to one parent only where a child requires parental supervision during a sporting activity. All clubs have Covid procedures in place for training and game day AND have worked extremely hard to get the season up and running. We realise this may be inconvenient BUT the alternative is our footy finishes early. No one wants that so please follow the Covid rules. Your co-operation will be appreciated by all, especially the players! This is for information, please do not post questions, comments etc. Weve heard them all, just follow the rules! THANK YOU.

07.01.2022 BROTHERLY LOVE!!! Congrats to Matty Tobenhouse (pictured on the right) who celebrated his 100th game for East Hills Bulldogs this year. Matty really is the type of kids you want at your Club, he will literally walk to you from one end of Smith Park, or any park for the matter, to the other to shake your hand (well these COVID days, fist pump) and ask how your day was!... Matty was able to celebrate his 100th game with big brother, Kalani who celebrated his 100 games last year. Matty has played up with Kalani in our Under 12s team since starting with the Originals. Congrats Matty, you are a credit to Mum (our Club secretary) and Dad, Joseph Tobenhouse - we are honoured to have you at our little Club.

07.01.2022 WHAT A YEAR!!! Bush fires, we lost Kobe (#24), COVID and now a recession. This year - it really has been crap! But, all is well again - footy is back on Sunday at Smith Park!!!... We are hugely excited for our first ever team competing in a ladys competition, our Open Ladies League Tag, kicking off at 1230pm. Also, we have some true champion East Hillians back to the Original Bulldogs playing in our Under 23s from 2pm. We welcome spectators to Smith Park today; we just ask for you to follow some now very familiar new normals: social distancing hand hygiene And of course, if you arent feeling flash, maybe give this week a miss and we will see you next time. The BBQ will be cranking - when you buy lunch, clean your hands! The canteen/bar will be open - when you buy some red frogs or a beer, you clean your hands! 05.01.2022 LIKE FATHER; LIKE SON!!! So many people get this wrong - what was the greatest Australian, maybe in the world, sporting moment of 1987? Wayne Gardner winning the Motorcycle - no, restart your engine! ... Pat Cash winning Wimbledon - nope; double fault! Australia winning their first Cricket World Cup - no ball! Those in the know, down Smith Park way, know it was Paul (Paddo) Paddison playing his 100 games for the Originals! Fast forward 33 years and Paddo’s boy, Oscar (Ozzie) is racking your his 100 games at Smith Park. The coolest thing about this, with the help of Ozzie’s mum, Vanessa Greenhill (the recruitment Queen) they travel from out of the area to play for Paddo’s and now of course, Ozzie’s footy club! 200+ games between father and son - over 4 decade at the Original Bulldogs - it don’t get much better than that! 04.01.2022 13 - LUCKY FOR SOME!!! What a start! Meet little Austin Guthrie (without the head gear) a new player and family, to East Hills Bulldogs. Austin enjoyed his first weekend of footy today, playing for the under 5s and filling in for the under 6s. ... At the end of the games Austin needed the support of his little brother to show us how many tries he scored across both games, 13! Surely thats a record!!! Big brother Benny also crossed the try line for the under 7 a couple of times! The Guthrie family come from #Westside of the river - which shows you dont only need a #2213 postcode to play for the Original Bulldogs. Well done Benny and Austin and welcome Guthrie family!

03.01.2022 CONGRATS TO THE SECRETARY!!! A massive congratulations to East Hills Bulldogs Secretary, Kristy Lee, who today was award the Karen Folkes Award, at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Women in League Breakfast, to celebrate the #womeninleague round. The Karen Folkes (wife of former NRL Bulldogs player and Coach, Steve Folkes) award is in recognition of the outstanding contributions of women to our game in the Canterbury-Bankstown district. ... The award acknowledges dedication to Rugby League in our area, and Kristy certainly fits the bill: 13 years services 7 years as Club Registrar 5 years as Secretary (position currently held) Various other concurrent positions including Ground/Team First Aid Officer, Trainer and Coach (Female Coach of the Year - 2019). Kristy was award Life Membership of East Hills Bulldogs in 2017 and despite both her children no longer playing for the club, Kristy remains involved in the club, with the same dedication as when they were playing, still managing teams, still filling in coaching, still doing the First Aid, still making sure every kid get a show bag. Well done Kristy and thank you for your services to our little Club; will never be forgotten; and never taken for granted.

We are still looking for kids aged 4 to 7 to play minis and it's not too late to register. ... If you are looking for your little champion to have a crack at footy with a club that doesn't take minis too seriously and focuses on smiles and participation, come down and give them a run.

03.01.2022 YOU DONT HAVE TO BE TWIN TOWERS TO PLAY 100 GAMES FOR THE ORIGINAL BULLDOGS!!! The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs had the Morris twins, but we aren’t silly enough to give our twin’s away! Meet Bailey (on the left) and Dylan (on the right with the broken arm) - the Original Bulldogs under 12s twins - the Anderson Twins. ... These boys, along with their coach and father Steven Anderson, and their manager and mum Cherie Anderson Pink are just people you want around the Club - just gems. The Anderson twins, although small in stature; but so big in heart - and knowing their Mum and Dad, we know where that comes from. This year, the Anderson Twins celebrated their 100 games with the Club. It’s pretty cool to play 100 games for your Club, but even cooler when you do it with the one kid that has literally been next to you since before birth. Congrats Andos - we know you will be around our little club for your 200 games. 100 games, with Dad, and Mum and your twin. Now that’s; #AFamilyAffair #thatsfamily

Family Bbq The weather over the past couple of weeks has cancelled a couple of events, but it ain’t stopping Easter! Tomorrow night around 530pm, the Easter Bunny will be visiting Smith Park for a COVID safe Easter Hunt. Also, we are rescheduling our wet weather postponed Try Footy and Try League tag days. Try Footy is brilliant for boys and girls aged 4 to 10 years keen to give tackle footy a go in a non obligation, safe environment. Try League Tag is for girls aged 12 to 17 years wanting to give League Tag a go. A family BBQ has been arranged for all players, people trying tag or footy and their families. 02.01.2022 ONE NAME, ONE CLUB - 60 YEARS!!! Meet William Brown (Billy), the old bloke in the cap. Now in his 80’s, to the best he can remember, Billy first played for East Hills in the late 50’s. He can’t remember exactly what year he started, but an old photo on the wall of the Smith Park Clubhouse reminded him of 1958. In 1958, having returned to pre season late Billy missed out on making the B Grade team. The team was already chosen. He, like a number of others, had returned followi...ng National Service, so many in fact, that East Hills decided to enter a second team in the B Grade competition. Billy’s team ended losing the Grand Final to the team from the photo on the Smith Park wall (attached). Yes, an East Hills vs East Hills grand final! Billy’s claims his team lost as he missed the Grand Final with pneumonia - we aren’t so sure. This year, over 60 years later, Billy’s grandson, also William Brown (Wil) played his 100th game for East Hills Bulldogs. Wil likes to remind his Grandfather that he played his 100th game the year of a pandemic, so maybe playing that grand final with pneumonia wasn’t that hard. Well done Wil on your 100 games for the Originals and good to see you dragging your old Pop down to watch most of them. #afamilyaffair #thatsfamily

02.01.2022 GOOD LUCK TO A COUPLE OF ORIGINAL BULLDOGS CHAMPIONS!!! Good Luck to Mitchell Gray and Bradley Cousins, playing for Ryde Eastwood Hawks RLFC in the Sydney Shield Grand Final at BankWest Stadium today at 1100am. Both Mitch and Brad, who both played Juniors for East Hills, are going for #back2back Grand Final wins, with their Ryde-Eastwood team mates - but they have never forgotten where they come from. ... With their great mate, Tristan Evans-Tsoi (pictured below with Brad and Mitch) and with assistance from Trey Parker, the boys have spending their time when they aren’t training with Ryde, training our junior teams (mainly our 13s) to give them specific halves, dummy halves and forwards training. We don’t just call them East Hills Bulldogs Champions because of the trophy cabinet they have filled for us with Grand Final wins; it’s the time they are giving back to their Club with our juniors that makes them the real winners. Your East Hills Bulldogs family will be cheering you gents. Get it done!

02.01.2022 OUR 70th YEAR - THE DEBATE IS OVER!!! For many years, a debate has existed as to whether our 70th anniversary was last year, 2020 or this year of 2021. Well, at least from a celebration point of view, COVID has settled settled the debate. Scheduled for March last year, our 70th anniversary event needed to be postponed due to COVID, now planned for next month. Details are below: ... WHEN: Saturday 17 April 2021 TIME: 600pm to 1000pm WHERE: East Hills Hotel, Maclaurin Ave, East Hills. 01.01.2022 SEASON POSTPONED!!! As many of you would be aware, the season for Junior Bulldogs and other associations in South West Sydney have been postponed; now with a 01 August kick off. At this point, we have still been given permission to continue to train, as a club. Notwithstanding, our Executive has made the decision not to train our junior teams tomorrow. This is in the best interest of our junior players, and their extended families. This includes our teams from Under 5s to Un...der 13s. For our Senior teams, our position on this, that senior are in a position to make the best decision for themselves. Our Coaches will contact with their players and the decision will be made as a group. At this point, Training will resume as normal, Tuesday 21 July 2020.

This comes despite, through the COVID related lockdown, the Pub being limited to only selling takeaway products from their bar and bistro. ...
