24.01.2022 For those wondering how Steve and Fiona are settling in, here is Steve in front of their new residence flying the flag for us.

23.01.2022 East Maitland War Memorial - Remembrance Day They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning.... We will remember them. Lest we forget

20.01.2022 This morning our Advocates, John and Judy, took the time to catch up and compare notes. Judy is currently undertaking Advocacy training under the Advocacy Training and Development Program (ATDP). John is providing Judy with guidance and mentorship. If you need assistance in completing and submitting a claim with DVA. Or know of someone who does. Please consider contacting the sub-Branch. John and Judy will only be too happy to assist and guide you through the process.... Please contact the sub-Branch either via Messenger or via [email protected]. We will then connect you to John and Judy.

17.01.2022 For those members wondering how Steve Grimmer is doing in Maryland, here are some photos of him exercising under the RAAF Ensign outside his house. I'd say he may have a little too much energy on his hands... Great job Steve, keep up the good work.

17.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the amount of rain and the conditions currently at Walka Water Works, the walk and sausage sizzle previously planned and advertised for this coming Sunday the 28th of March has been postponed to a later date (TBA). The Coffee And A Chat event is still proceding as always this coming Saturday 27th March rain, hail or (hopefully) shine, all are welcome as always from 0900-1200.

16.01.2022 The sub-Branch received some fantastic news this week. We were successful in our application to the NSW Community War Memorials Fund for funding to conduct elements of the much needed refurbishment works of the East Maitland War Memorial. The funding will be used to replace the remaining steel fencing poles with stainless steel poles stopping the current situation where the rusting of the steel poles is causing the stone pillars to crack. This is great news and we need to ac...knowledge and thank Neil and Brad for all their efforts in making this a reality. We would also like to thank the NSW Government for their support. Your support will ensure that the East Maitland War Memorial is there for many many years to come. Providing a place for members of our community to go and remember those that served our Nation and are no longer with us. Lest we forget.

16.01.2022 Thank you to the Member for Maitland, Jenny Aitchison MP, for reognising the achievements and community service of Neil and Peter. They are fantastic hard working individuals who have put in many dedicated voluntary years supporting the veteran community of East Maitland and the greater Hunter Region. https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au//Pag/HansardResult.aspx

13.01.2022 Some photos from today's "Coffee and A Chat" session at the sub-branch hall. It was great to see everyone getting out and about and remaining cognisant of Physical Distancing.

13.01.2022 On Wednesday the 25th of November a group of Sub-branch members travelled out to Luskintyre to visit the Airfield and Aviation Museum as well as the Aircraft Restoration Facility. A great day was had by all who attended and we would like to extend a special thanks to our gratious and very knowledgeable hosts Mr John McMaster and Mr Matt Webber for their warm welcome and great tour of their respective facilities.

12.01.2022 The sun is shinning. Water restrictions have been lifted. The War Memorial Centre is open for Coffee. What better time is there to do a little Spring clean of the War Memorial Centre. Many said that you would never use the skills taught at Recruit Training and honed through many hours cleaning Ablutions (know to some as SALs) etc. What would they know? Well done Albert, Neil and Stephen.... Next problem. How do we remove all the branches that Albert has cut down?

09.01.2022 Turned up to set up for this morning's Coffee and a Chat and what do I find? Peter Harvey hard at it mowing the lawns of the East Maitland War Memorial Centre! Well done Peter. You even mowed around the Plovers (Bearded Mudlarks)!

07.01.2022 Good Morning all. Please see below opportunity for everyone's awareness.

07.01.2022 Remembrance Day - East Maitland War Memorial Today the sub-Branch conducted a low key Commemorative Service to mark Remembrance Day due to COVID-19. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.... Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them Lest We Forget

06.01.2022 It was a pleasure to host the Member for Maitland, Jenny Aitchison MP, at this morning's Coffee and a Chat. Jenny stopped by to see the results of the refurbishment works that have been undertaken to the East Maitland War Memorial Centre over the last 12 months or so. The refurbishment works have only been possible through funding via the NSW Government Community Grant Schemes.... Jenny also took the opportunity to sit and chat to those present.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to sub-Branch Patron, Norm Burton OAM. Norm was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours List for his service to the community through support for a range of charitable organisations. On behalf of all the members of the sub-Branch, congratulations Norm.

02.01.2022 Another cracking turnout for this morning's Coffee and Chat. The hall is still open until midday, so there is still time to head down there if you would like, all are welcome of course.

01.01.2022 Last night we said farewell to our enigmatic Sub-Branch President, Steve Grimmer and his lovely wife Fiona. They are departing Australia on a new Defence adventure so a large group of Sub-Branch members gathered with Steve and Fiona at The Bank Hotel in East Maitland on Wednesday night to bid them bon voyage. A great night of beers, food and the usual banter from Albert was had by all and was topped off by some parting words and gifts. Needless to say, Steve and Fiona were ap...preciative of the turnout and have vowed to return to us once the posting is complete to continue their work with the Veteran Community. We wish them well and safe travels.

01.01.2022 Some photos from this mornings Coffee and Chat. It was an excellent turnout. A reminder to members, the AGM will be held on Monday 08 Feb from 7pm.

01.01.2022 Here are a few pictures from this morning's Coffee and a Chat.
