20.01.2022 Is it Monday or the weekend? Hard to tell with these scenes at @delatitewines Swipe across to see the gorgeous vineyards and a picture from the archives of Vivienne Ritchie making the first wine using a baby bath and small press in 1972. Why does Delatite produce great Riesling? Vivienne puts it down to the location and placement. I think the reason we have produced such good Riesling is because of the climate, soil and altitude, she says. Viticulture ...practice is also very important. "Growing the grapes biodynamically has really changed the fruit profile and has had a huge effect on our vines." David says. Ned Goodwin from James Halliday's Wine Companion said ‘Riesling is truly this estate's tour de force (it) is light years away from the hard Australian standard. And all the better for it. 10.01.2022 Rise Above It All The Penthouse at Palais Toorak - For sale by International Expressions of Interest via Ross Savas, Jamie Mi and Oliver Booth of Kay & Burton. True luxury is transcendent, tied neither to time nor place. Enduring craftsmanship and considered design distinguish the exceptional from the ordinary. ... This understanding has informed Craig Easton’s work for the past four decades. His firm, Easton, conceives high-end property developments designed to endure from generation to generation. Nowhere is his luxury philosophy more evident than in Easton’s newest residential achievement, The Penthouse at Palais Toorak in Melbourne, Australia. Set in the city’s most prestigious suburb the residence is, in many senses, the culmination of Easton’s 40 years in the business. It’s a home that offers the highest possible level of design, fit-out and construction according to Easton. Created, he says, to stand the test of time. 02.01.2022 Gorgeous Scenery at our Delatite Winery Cellar Door Project This is a family-run and owned business with a great history... In 1967 Robert Ritchie, third generation beef and prime lamb farmer at Delatite, went on a ski holiday at Mt Buller, with Jim Irvine, The Master Merlot Maker, from the Barossa Valley. One can only imagine what they discussed, but twelve months later, to everyone’s surprise, 500 vine sticks were left at the bottom of their drive. ... His wife Vivienne planted them in her vegetable garden and in the spring of 1968, with the help of their friends, they planted their first vineyard. For the next ten years they worked in collaboration with Peter and John Brown from Brown Brothers, growing varieties and developing wine styles suited to their climate. In 1982 they built their own winery and cellar door. Vivienne took on the marketing and selling, Robert and their son David worked the vineyard and they employed their daughter Ros as the winemaker. The winery is now run by David, with the assistance of the hard-working and innovative winemaker, Andy Browning. See more
