24.01.2022 *****Matagarup Bridge Closures Rescheduled Weekdays to the end of September between 9am and 1pm***** Main Roads advises: Bridge closures, lifting and deliveries are continuing on Matagarup Bridge until the end of September, from 9am to 1pm on weekdays, weather permitting.... The schedule has been revised due to weather conditions experienced earlier in the month. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and are doing our best to complete the works as quickly as possible, unfortunately each element of the works can be impacted by wet and windy conditions. We need to close the bridge while we lift steel and glass from the deck into the arches for the new Skyview and zip-line platforms. For safety, crossing the bridge during these times will not be possible so stakeholders are asked to please make plans to cross before or after the bridge closure times. Alternative access to Burswood Peninsula and East Perth will be available via paths on Goongoonganup Bridge (near Graham Farmer Freeway) or the Causeway Bridge. The detours are long so be prepared for the additional walking / riding time if the bridge is closed. Work to install the new zip cables is almost complete and no further restrictions will apply to the navigation channel in regards to the work after Friday 18 September. If lifting finishes early, we will re-open access on the bridge! See more

24.01.2022 The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia will commence road works at the Moore Street service delivery site from Monday 14 September 2020. This will require services to be moved temporarily for a period of 6 weeks. As the Accreditation of Homeless Services in the Public Realm trial is already proving to be successful, the City of Perth will take this opportunity to install permanent infrastructure at Moore Street, including shelters. Completing this work now will a...void the need to disrupt and relocate services for a second time at the end of the trial in February 2021. Services will be relocated to the Hill/Wittenoom Street area of Wellington Square, East Perth for 6 weeks commencing 14 September 2020, and will operate Monday Friday 5pm to 8pm and Sunday 8am to 11am. Residents can contact the City on (08) 9461 3333 Monday to Friday 8am 5.30pm and 9am 2pm Saturdays, or via [email protected] at any time and an Officer will respond to any concerns you may have.

23.01.2022 The City of Perth is excited to start construction on what will be one of biggest and best playgrounds in greater Perth. Funded by Lotterywest through a $4.37m ...grant, the new playground proposed for Wellington Square will be known as Koolangka Koolangka Waabiny, meaning Children Childrens playground in Whadjuk Nyoongar. The City marked the beginning of construction with a traditional sweeping ceremony by young Whadjuk Nyoongar girls and an official Lotterywest certificate handover from Member for Perth John Carey. Providing an area for adventure, connection and relaxation, Koolangka Koolangka Waabiny will be a playground for the people, for various ages and abilities. The theme for the community playground is 'Landscape of Play', influenced by Aboriginal themes and Western Australian iconic landforms. The Wellington Square redevelopment will be completed and open to the public by early 2021. Learn more: https://engage.perth.wa.gov.au/wellington-square

20.01.2022 Community is always bubbling just beneath the surface. It only takes one person to notice an opportunity and help it it burst through. Jules Aknin understands this better than most. 05.01.2022 HARLEYS BACK ~ in todays WA Business News. Reece Harley has told Business News he will run to reclaim his position on council in the City of Perth's upcoming election. Mr Harley along with the citys seven other councillors and lord mayor were suspended by the state government in 2018 following years of factional infighting on the council. The city subsequently underwent a two-year inquiry in which some councillors were accused of wrongdoing.... Mr Harley was not accused of wrongdoing in the inquiry's final report. Speaking to Business News, Mr Harley said his experience on council and his knowledge of local government would put him in a good position to deliver results for the city. "It's obviously been very difficult in the last few years for the City of Perth, and I feel my time on the council saw me having to fight for outcomes a lot," he said. "I spent a lot of my time pushing good ideas and finding it quite difficult to get good outcomes. "With a new council, a new CEO, new staff in senior management positions and a new lord mayor, there's a genuine opportunity for us to achieve really positive outcomes." First elected to the City of Perth's council in 2013, Mr Harley ran a self-funded, grassroots campaign for lord mayor against the incumbent, Lisa Scaffidi, in 2015. While he lost that race, capturing 45 per cent of the vote, he held Ms Scaffidi to the lowest winning margin of any of her three campaigns for lord mayor. Mr Harley was subsequently re-elected to council in 2017. In addition, he was the founder of Museum of Perth and has served as its managing director since 2015. When asked about what policies he will pursue if elected, Mr Harley listed financial management, diversifying the city's revenue stream away from parking fees, reforming organisational culture, addressing office and retail vacancies and supporting community groups among his top priorities.
