25.01.2022 Some of our Kindy friends had the opportunity to visit Gumdale State School today to join in a Physical Education class using their gross motor skills.



24.01.2022 Happy Educators Day Eastside!!!!!! Thankyou to all our amazing Educators who go above and beyond every single day as they help to support and guide your little people! Enjoy the celebrations today while you read through many of the beautiful personalised messages from the parents and of course your special gift!

24.01.2022 Kindy Two have been focusing on sea life with children brainstorming and actively leading their learning on how to create clown fish; the children had some beautiful ocean playdough with loose parts including shells and rocks! Some of the children displayed some great problem solving with the ramps, exploring gravity and push and pull theories.

24.01.2022 Pre Kindy One have continued their fun week of dinosaurs with a dinosaur world enclosure, the children have also been focusing on colour recognition, today they had the opportunity to use their fingers to mix and create some beautiful patterns.

22.01.2022 Throughout our service there has been many activities of messy play today, this offers many opportunities for learning from texture comparison, hand eye coordination, body space, taking turns, problem solving and communication and language skills in enquiry learning. Messy play is designed to target a child's natural curiosity and encourages a positive approach to new experiences.

21.01.2022 More of our Pre Kindy friends had a visit up for a play in our big Kindy yard! There were squeals of delight as they explored their new environment

20.01.2022 Prekindy have been focusing on Nursery Rhymes this week. Today was The Three Bears. Home corner was set up as if Goldilocks was about to visit! A lovely playdough experience was created for role play using puppets and the small furniture.

20.01.2022 Its Science Week!!!! Our little people have had the opportunity to explore many science concepts including taking part in all sorts of experiments developing a range of skills such as problem solving, enquiry, experimentation, hypothesizing and investigation.

19.01.2022 It is Outdoor Classroom Day today!!!!! Eastside friends are enjoying most of their activities outside in the beautiful sunshine going on scavenger hunts, splashing in water play and creating works of art through paint.

19.01.2022 Happy Harmony Day!!!! It is lovely to see so many Eastside friends in orange and engaging in activities around kindness and friendship.

18.01.2022 Our Pre Kindy friends have been busy engaging in Science experiments today, these are based around the representation of germs and how they spread or how they can sometimes stay on your hands if we don't wash them correctly, in these experiments glitter and detergent were represented as 'germs', the children enjoyed exploring these sensory activities.

18.01.2022 Eastside families!!! It is that time of year again where we get to come to work in our comfiest pyjamas. We are hosting pyjama day next Friday 17th July. Feel free to dress your children in their pjs for a fun day of activities!

If you have a safe outdoor area why not reenact the story using nature resources, you could make fun sensory bottles with long wavy grass or thick squelchy mud, there are so many different ways to have fun with this story!!!! 12.01.2022 Eastside families!!! While we all have a little bit more time on our hands, we thought each Friday we would send home some fun ideas/activities that you could enjoy together to keep your children engaged in their play based learning. Our first one is an easy recipe for playdough..... Playdough is an essential staple we use everyday at Eastside as it supports fine motor development, creativity, literacy, numeracy, concentration, science concepts, vocabulary and has therapeutic value.... ENJOY!!

11.01.2022 Toddler One have been focusing on transport this week, to further develop their fine motor skills and colour recognition, the children had the opportunity to roll some cars with textas taped to them around their paper, there were some beautiful patterns!

11.01.2022 We are continuing our high level of hygiene at Eastside with correct handwashing technique, all our windows/screens are open to ensure ample air flow throughout the service, Eastside friends are enjoying indoor/outdoor play as we follow the instructions of social distancing as best we can in this space. We have also begun some fun Easter activities

10.01.2022 Due to the recent world events we have stepped up our diligence in hygiene and ensuring children are washing their hands correctly, we are having more indoor/outdoor play to ensure we are following the instructions of social distancing as best we can in this format. Our activities for the past week have been centred around how we keep ourselves healthy at daycare, today PreKindy friends have enjoyed using dirt and glue to paint clean hands following a discussion on handwashing. Toddler Two have enjoyed painting their own interpretation of some healthy food.

08.01.2022 Kindy One and Kindy Two have been very busy this week, both rooms have been discussing the wider community in where and how we belong and how we are connected within our environment. Kindy One have made a collaborative artwork of the earth! Kindy Two are moving into how we look after our environment, in particular our waterways that lead to the ocean, this lead to the children designing their own machines to clean the sea!

08.01.2022 PreKindy One's volcano was in full eruption yesterday!! The children were supported in pouring in the bicarb soda followed by the vinegar to create their science experiment, there were many squeals of delight as they patiently waiting their turn!

06.01.2022 Eastside would like to wish all our families a very happy easter, enjoy this exciting time with your little people. We also received a special message about the Easter bunny!!

06.01.2022 The last few weeks PreKindy One friends have been focusing on plants and how they grow, even planting there own woolworths little garden to observe and look after. To extend on this, PreKindy have measured their height and created a 'Growing garden of Children', which is on display for families to view.

05.01.2022 Eastside families! As you will have heard Brisbane is going into a 3 day lockdown as of 5pm today. Rest assured we will stay open and it will be business as usual for us here at Eastside. We do ask that you please follow the rules set by the Qld Government in regards to masks, hand sanitiser and social distancing. 04.01.2022 This week in Toddler Two there has been a large interest in the doll babies, to further extend on this curiosity, Toddler Two friends visited our Nursery! The children thoroughly enjoyed interacting, feeding and reading to their Nursery friends.

04.01.2022 Kindy friends have had an exciting morning together enjoying many easter activities including observational drawings and colour recognition, we read the book "We're going on an egg hunt!", as a group we decided to have an actual easter egg hunt in the yard with pretend eggs. It was lovely to hear many squeals of excitement.

03.01.2022 This week Kindergarten One have created some lovely pieces of art through their focus on weather, they have had group discussions prompted by the children on How rainbows are formed? and learned the meaning of some big words including precipitation and prisms!!

01.01.2022 Eastside will be acknowledging Harmony Day on Friday 19th March. Please join us in wearing an orange shirt or accessory :) Harmony Day is to promote social cohesion and inclusivity of diversity, respect and belonging.

01.01.2022 This week Kindergarten 2 have been having discussions about how the Easter bunny travels to deliver all the eggs! Today Kindy friends came up with many modes of transport including 'roller skates', 'speed - just like sonic', 'hitching a ride with Santa'. Of course the most popular was hopping. To extend on this, the children were able to measure how far they could hop using a tape measure. Kindy friends were able create their own transport using many resources. Their countdown calendar says only 8 days until the fluffy bunny visits.

01.01.2022 Our rooms have been very busy this week in acknowledging Anzac Day with your little people in an age appropriate manner. There are some beautiful wall displays with many rooms cooking some delicious Anzac biscuits to enjoy for afternoon tea. I hope you all have a lovely weekend as we remember our Anzacs in a different form this year.
