09.01.2022 Dear friends of Eastside Sydney Music Festival, I hope you are all well and enjoying this glorious weather. I am starting to put my mind to next year’s festival having had somewhat of a break and time to catch my breath. I’ll be in touch about plans and will be forming an artistic committee. In the meantime and in the spirit of the ESMF and wonderful music in the Eastside of Sydney, I’d like to alert you to the newly formed and enterprising Ensemble Polyphème who would like ...to extend a very warm welcome to their upcoming performances of G.F. Handel’s gorgeous vocal work Acis and Galatea. Ensemble Polyphème is an exciting chamber music ensemble comprising leading young Australian professionals and up and coming talent. Founded by early keyboard specialist Nathan Cox and wonderful singer Nathan Bryon (both currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music) Ensemble Polyphème is dedicated to the performance of masterworks from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and aims to provide a much needed platform for talented young artists to develop expertise in Baroque performance practice. Ensemble Polyphème is presenting Acis and Galatea at the Paddington Uniting Church which many of you attended during ESMF. Nathan Cox (harpsichord) will lead an exciting historically informed orchestra, an ensemble of hand-picked players from ensembles such as ACO, Pinchgut Opera, and Bach Akademie Australia, with a fabulous mix of professional and talented young singers. Directed by Christine Douglas, founder of Pacific Opera - this semi-staged performance engages with both the drama and the musical purity of this masterwork and offers something fresh in the Australian classical music scene. There are only three performances, so don’t miss out: Friday 8/11 - 7pm Saturday 9/11 - 7pm Sunday 10/11 - 2:30pm More Information: https://ensemblepolypheme.com Tickets: https://www.trybooking.com/BFFXC I recommend this to you very highly. It is just so wonderful to see these young musicians establishing their own ensemble and supporting the musical and cultural life of our magnificent city and country. Ensemble Polyphème deserves our support. I promise that their ticketing is much simpler than we had for ESMF! Hoping to see you at one of these performances. Warmest wishes Neal
