12.01.2022 A big thanks to Wattyl Paints at the Solver Paint Center for their assistance and donation of the black enamel paint. The Hupmobile is coming along.....
10.01.2022 Here's the reveal from under what was copious layers of old paint. We're mildly optimistic that what we thought was just an old chair (recently donated to the Shed) might in fact be a proper antique. It even has it's own item number. More research and restoration is planned.
10.01.2022 Don't forget about the open day tomorrow OPEN DAY Saturday September 23rd 2017 In Celebration of National Mens Shed Week- September 18-25 2017 This SHED welcomes the public to share our activities and to celebrate our efforts to keep men active in this community.... We are a member of The Tasmania Mens Shed Association and The Australian Mens Shed Association. Our Shed is currently, but not exclusively, focussed on support for retired men to keep them physically and mentally active in their years after retirement. We encourage younger men to engage with our experience and to consider the benefits of this Association for their recreation and ongoing health also. We will feature our current activities: Veteran car restoration project Production of early learning materials for children Production of garden sculpture Production of nesting boxes for native birds Community Projects we have been involved along with our Shed Extension. Come and have a chat with a cuppa and get involved with community. We aim to support you. We would encourage your involvement. Further enquiries: Jeff Wynne 0417 843 943

08.01.2022 Expansion update: Our application for a planning permit had t be withdrawn since it didn't comply with the National Construction Code. I have re-applied for th...e planning permit and building permit but these will not be considered by the LCC until next week at the earliest. The new applications are to double the size of the existing building by adding an extension to the North end of the same width, length and height of the existing building. Therefore we can not expect the planning permit to be approved any time before the end of this month. This will delay the tree removal work bee that we were intending to have in the near future. I will let you know how things progress as they transpire. Rod Stuart Project manager

05.01.2022 At this time of year, it seems appropriate to talk about war service medals and memorabilia. Recently, we have found a number of medals and memorabilia from WW1..., WW2 and the Korean War. Some were found in the bottom of a box of photographs and we reduced a couple more from the walking floor at the Sth Hobart Tip. While we love everything our amazing supporters donate to us, sometimes we wonder if these kind of items were accidentally donated! With the enormous amount of donations we receive from our wonderfully generous customers, we often dont know who has donated what and its not unusual to find amazing treasures in the back of a drawer, inside an old shoe or the pocket of a coat which make it harder for us to do the right thing in situations like these war medals. What do we do with them? After some internal discussions, it was decided we would like to try to find the original owners or family members and offer them back to the families. We have tried to do this by various means but unfortunately we have reached a dead end. So, during this week of ANZAC Day , can you help us by checking if your cherished family war medals are where they should be and have not inadvertently been donated to us. Please contact us if they are missing and you have donated something to the South Hobart Tip Shop in the last 6 months. Each medal is engraved with the name of the person it was awarded to. Please contact us via Facebook or call us on 62248669 and ask to speak to Jason, if any of these items may belong to your family. at the going down if he sun and the morning we will remember them
02.01.2022 Great day working on the Huppmobile. Lifted the head and no big surprises, bore and pistons look good, but there is plenty of wear in the timing sprockets. Not sure what we will do about that!! Work continues on the body frame with some trial fitting of the body panels
