25.01.2022 The amazing Bridgett & Sam are volunteers/employees at the Centre and have been nominated for the Community Bridging Services Amelia Rix award. This award is for recognition of the tenacity and courage that people with a disability require to find employment. Sam is looking particularly pleased with himself as he was runner up! Sam is a long term volunteer at the centre, you will see him cooking our Christmas BBQ and running our monthly cooking classes. Bridgett is employed at the centre as an admin assistant and you will see her busy in the office two days per week. Bridgett and Sam continue to demonstrate that Community Centres' are a great place to volunteer, as a stepping stone to build confidence, help your community, and work toward full time employment. Congratulations to you both from the team at the Eastwood Community Centre.

21.01.2022 Ive always said, we wont keep restrictions in place one day longer than we have to, if its safe to do so. Due to the improving situations across the border ...we are reinstating a 40km travel buffer for border communities from Friday, assuming the situation doesnt worsen between now and then. Private gatherings will go back to a 50 person limit. Transiting via Sydney and Canberra airports will no longer require 14 days of self quarantine, if youve traveled from a state where border restrictions are not in place. The border restrictions with NSW and the ACT are being closely monitored and we hope to make further announcements on this soon.

07.01.2022 BREAKING: Our legislation to ban single-use plastics in South Australia has passed Parliament. South Australia is once again leading the nation in making import...ant decisions to protect our environment. The legislation at first bans single-use plastic items like straws, cutlery and beverage stirrers and outlines a framework for adding more items in the future. However, in light of ongoing impacts from the coronavirus pandemic, the commencement of the legislation wont occur until early 2021. This will give businesses time to bounce back before the ban comes into effect. Were proud to be leading the way in taking action on single-use plastics.
