18.01.2022 Its grass seed season!!!! Lately we have been removing a massive amount of grass seed from your fur babies..... but Wilson definitely takes the cake for most impressive grass seed collection. Wilson came in early yesterday with irritated armpits. A quick look over by Dr Meg and he was admitted for so e sedation to remove a few grass seeds!!! We retrieved a massive 15 grass seeds from each armpit as well as one between his toes and a prophylactic grass seed search to remove any loose grass seeds that were yet to cause Wilson a problem. We hope that Wilson is feeling much better today

17.01.2022 Given the latest information from the government regarding the Coronavirus situation we thought it was time to let all our valued clients know that at this stage its business as usual at Eastwood Vets. In saying we are putting in place measures to keep everyone safe at this time, minimise unnecessary contact and abide by the social distancing recommendations outlined in the latest federal government release. As such we will: - Provide additional hand washing and alcohol-bas...ed hand sanitisers, please use these on arrival and after your visit and avoid any unnecessary physical contact with staff. - Only one person may accompany your animal into the clinic. We may also ask people to wait outside or in there cars rather than in our waiting room when waiting for appointments - If you are unwell or self-isolating and need veterinary help, please contact us by phone to see how we can help you and your animals through this time. - For people who are anxious or trying avoid coming out in public we can offer phone or face time consultation to avoid any undue stress about coming out in public at this time. - Please be aware that the situation is changing rapidly and whilst we currently have full service from our suppliers this may change at any time. We ask that you check your prescriptions and ensure that you have adequate medication for at least a fortnight. If you are going to need more medications soon please call several days ahead of needing prescriptions refilled so that we can place the necessary orders to ensure our patients needs are met to the best of our abilities. We appreciate your understanding through this time and know that there is a lot of uncertainty and stress surrounding the current situation. We will be doing our best to ensure we can continue to provide the same friendly service as usual within the limitations outlined to us by the government latest advice.

13.01.2022 FUN FACT FRIDAY Do not feed your dog Easter Eggs Chocolate is toxic to dogs as it contains an ingredient called Theobromine. This is a chemical that is found in the cocoa plant. The darker the chocolate the worse it is, but still no chocolate is safe. If your dog does happen to eat chocolate they may experience vomiting, diarrhoea or even seizures. If you dog eats chocolate contact your vet. ... BONUS FACT Please do not feed your dog hot cross buns as Sultanas are also toxic to dogs.

Its has been absolutely overwhelming the amount of offers for help that the clinic has received this past week of people and organisation that want to help anybody affected by the bushfires!!! Between the AUstralian Veterinary Associations, private vets and vet nurses offering themselves, to people offering housing for injured and displaced animals the generosity of people in our community and beyond is unbelievable. For our clients - Our suppliers ...have come together to offer us any medications required to treat bushfire affected animals for free. We are also receiving donations of cat/dog food, some horse food and hay, all of which we are keen pay it forward to farmers and clients in need and affected by the fires. The suppliers donating these goods are feeling generous so if you have been affected by the fires and think we may be able to help with anything contact us and we will see what we can do! For anyone contacting our Facebook page to find out the best places to donate funds for wildlife and animals please find our recommended charities below. We are not going to start our own funds and are trying to refer donated goods we cant use to help our clients to the most appropriate existing relief groups as there are just soooo many already out there! 03.01.2022 Throwback Friday! Throw back to when we met this little guy Diesel came in on a Saturday morning in March non weight-bearing on his left hind after being hit by a car. ... Some x-rays by Dr Kristy showed us a distal femoral fracture that needed to be pinned (to stabilise) and splinted (to slow down a very busy kelpie pup) for 6 weeks. Diesel was the perfect patient with regular check ups the nurses got creative with some pawesome bandage art. Three weeks ago Diesel came in for one final visit to remove the pins and his final splint was applied to make sure he didnt undo everybodies excellent work! We did love seeing Diesel because he was such a lovely little lad, but it was great to see the back of him knowing he had made a full recovery from such a terrible injury!
