22.01.2022 Do you drive a Subaru? Subaru Australia is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles over a number of faults that could cause excessive exhaust smoke or loss of eng...ine power. The recall applies to Subaru Impreza MY2017-2019 and Subaru XV MY2018-2019 vehicles "Due to improper Engine Control Module (ECM) programming, the ignition coil may overheat, creating a short circuit and blowing the fuse," ACCC Product Safety said. "If the fuse blows, the engine may stop while driving and not restart, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users." Product Safety Australia said there are also concerns that over time the aluminium positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve in some vehicles may fracture, allowing the engine to draw an increased amount of engine oil. "This may cause excessive exhaust smoke and possibly unexpected loss of engine power," ACCC Product Safety said. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and asked to arrange an appointment for inspection and repair, free of charge. For further information, contact Subaru on 1300 550 994.
