18.01.2022 Easylink's latest newsletter and social calendar for December and January is now available! If you are looking to get a bit Christmassy, a couple of events to look out for are our Christmas lunch at Pittwater RSL and the ‘Christmas with Catherine’ performance at Glen St Theatre. Click through to read all the details.
14.01.2022 Happy Friday! We have had an overwhelming response from customers wanting to get out of the house now that social distancing restrictions are lifting. Social interaction amongst the older population offers many benefits and has been linked to better physical and emotional health. Yesterday, one of Easylink’s Mystery Drives took customers to the Edogawa Japanese Gardens in Gosford. Here is a lovely photo from the day.... Our mystery drives connect our customers and together they develop friendships and explore Sydney at the same time. Our mystery drives run every fortnight. Join us next time for a half or full day outing and your first trip is FREE! Find a mystery drive near you by calling us on 9919 0700 or by visiting our website at www.easylink.com.au/transport-services/social-outings/
13.01.2022 A few months ago, Easylink was lucky enough to be awarded grant funding from Manly Leagues to continue running our very popular Easylink to Wellness program. The program aims to connect, mobilise, and enable seniors and those with a disability living on the Northern Beaches by offering a low-cost social outing to Easylink customers. The outing includes lunch with other customers, an accessible exercise class at Active Seniors Dee Why, and transport to and from customers’ hom...es. All for $15! We have limited spots left. If you are interested in booking or would like more information, please call us on 02 9919 0700. Image courtesy of Manly Leagues
04.01.2022 Children are curious and for children who visit and perhaps live with a grandparent or older person living with dementia, it’s natural for them to ask questions.... It’s important for them to be given an age appropriate and accurate answer so they can process what this means. This week is Children’s Book Week and we are sharing books to support families to understand dementia and how this can be communicated to children of all ages. My book about brains, change and dementia, is a great place to start for younger children. The audio book is available here: https://dementiainmyfamily.org.au/preschool/ or you can borrow a hard copy from our library here: https://dementia-e-library.overdrive.com/media/4190617 There are also a huge range of resources for older children at https://dementiainmyfamily.org.au/ Happy reading! For further support and ideas, please contact one of our experienced and friendly librarians at the National Dementia Library.
03.01.2022 Last month Easylink customers ventured to Cockatoo Island on one of our social outings. Led by Easylink travel training coordinator, Kristine, the group caught a ferry from Manly to Circular Quay. They then took another ferry to Cockatoo Island where they had lunch and explored the Island. It was such a great day out and we look forward to the next travel training outing to Barangaroo this month. Here are some photos from the day.
02.01.2022 All of Easylink’s office computers have been replaced and upgraded, thanks to the generosity of Toyota Finance Australia (TFA). One of Easylink’s volunteers, Mark Rankin, works as volunteer IT consultant to Easylink in his spare time, but in his day job he is an IT Manager at TFA. Mark knew that Easylink’s computers were quite outdated, and that TFA had recently upgraded to brand new computers. Instead of sending their old computers to metal recyclers, Mark and TFA have refur...bished the devices and are kindly donating them to Easylink to give them a second life. TFA provides Finance and Insurance to customers purchasing a new or used car. They have a range of products to suit both consumers and businesses, as well as fleet management and salary packaging services. This kind donation will update Easylink’s current eight-year old computers and ensure Easylink’s operations will now run faster and more effectively. A total of 20 computers and 3 laptops have been run-up and delivered to Easylink’s Cromer offices.
