25.01.2022 This month we will celebrate swallowing awareness day on the 17th. Did you know that 1 in 17 people will develop some form of swallowing difficulty in their lifetime? Or that 100% of people with Alzheimer’s will have dysphagia (swallow difficulties) at some point in the progression of their disease? Help us bring awareness to swallowing disorders this year! At Eat. Speak. Repeat. we are also running a colouring competition! Grab yourself a colouring in page at your next appointment and return by March 19th for your chance to win! #EatSpeakRepeat #SwallowingAwarenessDay
25.01.2022 Today is National Close the Gap day! The aim is to bring awareness to the health disparities experienced by Indigenous Australians and to close the health gap. Let’s close the gap to nutritional deficiencies, to HIV incidence, to education for safe pregnancy, to general health concerns, and to prevalence of ear infections. Let’s work together to CLOSE THE HEALTH GAP #CloseTheGap #EatSpeakRepeat
20.01.2022 Exciting news! We have partnered with Driving Miss Daisy Nelson Bay to bring the Port Stephens community a FREE NDIS information night! All the details are in the image below. 19.01.2022 We are so thrilled that our communication board has arrived! It’s now set up in our waiting room and ready to be used and admired. Eventually we will have one of these in every room because access to communication is important and we want to make sure everyone has the chance to communicate in our clinic! #EatSpeakRepeat
16.01.2022 Feeling very grateful to have won one of three International Women’s Day scholarships from the Port Stephens Council today. The money will be used toward setting up and running holiday programs for children with additional needs and disabilities within the Port Stephens area. Very excited to start planning these programs and very grateful for the opportunity to serve my community! #internationalwomensday #EatSpeakRepeat
07.01.2022 We are SO excited to announce our very first inclusive holiday program! Our holiday programs do not have a focus on therapy, rather, it is a place for kids who are often excluded from regular holiday events to gather and have fun! Our first program is going to be a sensory oasis where little ones who need that extra sensory stimulation can go wild! Spaces are limited so get in touch today! For more information, send us a message or leave a comment! #EatSpeakRepeat
05.01.2022 It is officially Autism Acceptance Month! Why ‘acceptance’ and not ‘awareness’ like in previous years? Well, I think it’s safe to say we are all aware of autism, but have we all accepted it and seen change within our communities to support autistic individuals? Unfortunately, no. . This month, Eat. Speak. Repeat. is glad to show our support for creating a space of acceptance for autistic individuals and their families. We work closely with many children and adults who are au...tistic, so understand that there is still a long way to go in regard to acceptance for them when they’re outside of our clinic doors. . Help us bring acceptance to our autistic community members this month and for all the months to come! Not sure how you can show acceptance? Send us a message, we’d love to have a chat! #EatSpeakRepeat . P.S. thanks to @thestudyingslp and @the_aussiespeechie for sharing such amazing words and graphics today! See more
