25.01.2022 This is the 12 stem salami bouquet from Urban Providore Australia It was the last item I had to deliver yesterday for my online silent auction for mental health A total of $5600 was raised (after transaction fees), bringing my total to $12,665. A combination of money and awareness was raised for mental health and headspace. The lady holding the salami bouquet is the amazing Dawn and she owns Urban Providore Australia and Stand Up Paddle Canberra. Dawn was one of the man...y amazing business owners who contributed an item to the online auction I want to say a huge thank you to Dawn, the business owners who contributed an item and everyone who bid on an item. Urban Providore has an amazing range of Australian and Canberra region products. You can purchase individual products or customise a gourmet hamper. 24.01.2022 Electric scooters or electric bikes? What one would you choose? You've likely spotted them around Canberra by now! We spent 5 weeks in Europe last year and used electric scooters to explore many of the cities we visited so we've had great experiences using them. When they're used correctly and safely, we think they're a great alternative to get around and discover Canberra There are several companies offering scooters and e-bikes throughout Canberra. 23.01.2022 Where is this? We've had this idea in the works for a while! We want to know how well you know Canberra Every few weeks we'll be sharing photos of different venues and locations in Canberra and we want YOU to tell us where you think it is. So, leave a comment and tell us where this is. We'll reveal the answer and some more information about the locations in a few days.

22.01.2022 Happy FRYday! The Upper Lachlan Shire Council's countryside is dotted with historic and charming towns, each having a selection of delightful food and beverage options. The Albion Hotel (also known as the Grabby Pub) in Grabben Gullen, just outside of Crookwell, is one of them. We stumbled across it recently and we think more people need to know about it! Amazing seafood is the last thing you expect to find when you're 200km from the ocean but that's exactly what you'll get a...t the Grabby Pub. Chef Ray (who is also the owner and runs it with his wife) has worked at several seafood restaurants and fishmongers in Sydney and Wollongong. So he knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to seafood! The dishes we had were cooked to perfection and the seafood was as fresh as new flowers blooming in spring. Seafood dishes are only offered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and once it's gone, it's gone. So get in early! Seafood dishes on the menu depend on what's available that week as the delivery arrives from the seafood market in Sydney. It's simple food done well and it was the lightest, crispiest batter Take a drive and grab a bite to eat at the Grabby Pub! It's also a great area to travel to if you want to get up close to a wind turbine or 70 See more

21.01.2022 People contact us all the time to ask us about recommendations for where to eat, where to drink and what to do in Canberra. Not long ago it was Lorraine Elliott from one of Australia's most popular food blogs, Not Quite Nigella. Most recently, it was our friend Karen Hardy from The Canberra Times. She asked me and the lovely Emma from Photo Before We Eat for some ideas to include in her girls' gourmet guide to Canberra. Check it out https://www.canberratimes.com.au//girls-gourmet-guide-to-/

19.01.2022 We recently tried some of the dishes on Lonsdale Street Roasters 7 new breakfast menu. The upstairs dining area is a funky space and it’s the perfect spot to soak up some morning sun while overlooking Lonsdale St in Braddon. We had a hard time deciding what to order for breakfast. Spiced baked eggs, mixed mushrooms, spiced porridge. We wanted it all! BUT we resisted ordering one of everything and settled on the French toast with mascarpone, plum sauce, shredded coconut and maple syrup, the Chef Brekky with avo, feta, cherry tomatoes on toast with a side of hash browns ;-) Because hash browns are always a good idea The coffee is obviously on point too

16.01.2022 Saturday is platter day This one is from Rizla when we visited with an Eat Canberra Food Tours group Rizla is a great restaurant and wine bar in Braddon. They specialise in Riesling but you'll find a good selection of other wine on their menu if Riesling isn't you thing. 16.01.2022 If you want to take a quick trip to Italy in Canberra, head to The Italian Place. But don't expect a fancy, fine-dining restaurant. It's a casual, unpretentious restaurant where you'll find authentic and delicious homestyle food. The portion sizes were satisfying, the flavours were amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the service was great. Their pasta is homemade and you'll find their new providore next door with a range of Italian smallgoods, cheeses, gou...rmet deli products, pre-made meals, fresh pasta, fresh produce and a good range of wine. We started with the Gamberoni Gratinati (butterflied King prawns, pan grattato and zucchini salad scapece) and the Sarde in carpione (Pan-seared sardines with sweet and sour pickled eschalot and baby carrots). For mains we shared the Caserecce (homemade pasta with pork neck and fennel ragout and parmesan) and the Tagliatelle alla carbonara (homemade tagliatelle, flat pancetta, free-range eggs, pecorino Romano and pepper). Both dishes were a treat to eat and the richness and depth of flavour in the pork ragout was amazing. We always find room dessert so we had to try the tiramisu. Just like everything else, it was delicious! We enjoyed the whole experience at The Italian Place much more than an experience we had at another Italian restaurant we visited earlier in the year, where we paid double the price.

16.01.2022 Fried chicken and waffles This is Highroad's spin on a savoury version. Parmesan and pickled jalapeño waffle topped with a fried egg and a whole lot of deliciousness. The fried chicken is an optional extra and we can't resist fried chicken so on the plate it went

09.01.2022 Have you been to Verity Lane Market yet??? We're so excited about this new food hall in the Sydney Building It has a spectacular bar and a selection of delicious eats. But remember it is a food hall. It's a beautiful and trendy food hall but don't go there expecting table service and an intimate experience. You order at your selected kitchen (or all three) and you are given a buzzer. You can then grab a drink and take a seat at your table until your buzzer goes off and you ...go and collect your food. Capacity is currently at 140 due to COVID-19 but there's indoor and outdoor sitting areas. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to return. You'll find a beautiful bar, the amazing Pizza Artigiana, Ramen Daddy and Project Enoki. It has only been open for a week and a half so it is busy and you can expect some of the food to sell out. More food and beverage options are coming to Verity Lane Market soon! It's open Wednesday to Saturday from 4pm until late http://eatcanberra.com.au//verity-lane-market-canberras-f/

09.01.2022 If you can, please give back to those in need Giving back can mean giving some of your time to volunteer, donating a little money to an organisation you care about or donating items that will help someone in need. 08.01.2022 Last night at Maestral Mediterranean Seafood Restaurant in Weston It's always a good experience and we think it's the best spot for seafood in Canberra. The inside dining room is small so booking is a must. There's also an outdoor area and that's where we sat last night. It's a family owned and operated business and it's BYO. It's still as good as it was when I first visited more than 9 years ago. Last night we had the Croatian style grilled octopus (so tender and tasty), Adriatic platter for one (always a winner) and the Dalmatian fish stew "Brudet" (it's a favourite).
