20.01.2022 Dear customers The last few weeks have been extremely difficult for everyone of us. We hope you all stay safe and healthy as much as you can be. As directed by both Victorian and National government, we will be restricted to Takeaway service only from now on, until more instruction is given. ... But before anything else happen, we want to assure you that we are here to provide the freshest seafood and quality fish and chips to all of our valued customers as usual. And we have implemented precautionary measures to do our part in reducing the spread of Covid-19. - We are cleaning and sanitising both the front and the kitchen as frequent as we can. - Busy surfaces of areas such as cash register, counter, door handles will be wiped disinfectant every hour. - Hand sanitiser will be available to everyone from Wednesday(that is when we receive them from our supplier). - We encourage card payments to avoid any contact in store. - Any staff of Eat Fish who is feeling unwell has to stay at home until has a clean bill of health. At last we invite you to join us to be supportive to each other and that includes your family, friends, neighbours, local businesses, and strangers. We all know that there are lights at the end of the tunnel, and let’s navigate through it all together. Eat Fish Team

08.01.2022 Beautiful day, shinning seafood, what are you waiting for? Come to Eat Fish!

07.01.2022 The University Chippie Pilgrimage (UCP) will be up and running again very soon, but today I took a break from my tertiary themed travels and tucked into some sp...uds at Eat Fish on High St, Ashburton. : I am thoroughly impressed with the excellent quality of chip that Eat Fish have achieved at a very reasonable price, placing them on equal standing with the best I've tried so far. Read on for the full review. Eat Fish is one of a new breed of fish and chip shops that offer a polished and upmarket experience, breaking the mould set by the humble, unembellished store fronts of traditional chippie joints. Tank Fish and Chippery was another one of these neo-chip shops, and their new-fangled ways resulted in quite an impressive chip, which still retained the good value that we associate with traditional fish and chip stores. Eat Fish follow a similar narrative, except everything is just a bit better. For a start, they use "Russet Burbank Tasmanian potatoes", which they proudly advertise on their menu board. You may think they sound pretentious, but it's only pretentious if it doesn't provide you any meaningful quality improvement (it does), yet causes the price to increase (it doesn't). Firstly, their price. Take it from me: I chose the Small option ($4) because I wasn't very hungry, expecting a small box or cup of chipsI ended up as stuffed as the turkey in a turducken. So, disregarding the superior quality of the chips, which I will talk about next, the pure value for money already sets these apart from much of the competition. There are also Medium and Large options availablesee the comments for their box sizes, which are immense. Next, their quality. Whereas most chippies rely on a special seasoning to give them a novel taste, Eat Fish's are one of a very rare kind where the flavour of the potato itself is noticeably unique. They use sea salt granules that are the standard of the traditional fish and chip shopyet, the chippies stand out in the taste department due to theyes, I'll say it againRusset Burbank Tasmanian potatoes. Their wide cut gives you ample potato to taste in each chip, and to cap it all off, they were well cooked across the board, with a nice crunchy crust that opens up to the fluffy russet inside. I have to say, there has been a clear pattern emerging in recent weeks. Modern fish and chipperies including Tank, Neptune's, and now Eat Fish have all impressed me with the quality they are producing while being friendly on the hip-pocket. They have all been rewarded with high scores. Eat Fish happens to be my favourite of the lot, and earns itself an equal-best 15/17a score I certainly was not anticipating when I popped in for a quick bite to eat. Good. Chippie. Thank you very much to chiphead Sarah Yang for recommending Eat Fish, and please leave your favourite places in the comments below! ~spudmin
