25.01.2022 Thursday was our final full day on tour eating like locals in Singapore - and that we did! We started our morning in Tiong Bahru with a walk around the estate and then onto the markets. We explored the wet markets with vendors selling fish and seafood (including fresh made fish cakes), meats and poultry and fresh fruit and veggies. We then ventured upstairs to the hawker stalls to eat fried carrot cake (not the kind we might be used to), rice cakes with caramelised radish an...d a new take on fruit salad. We then moved onto Chinatown to meet Anthony the Spice Maker and his daughter Min who are mixing up amazing herbs and spices for traditional meals. It was then time for a wander before enjoying egg tarts from Tong Heng, a bakery over 100 years old. Our plans to visit a seafood Hawker market on the east coast for dinner were foiled by a massive thunderstorm and rain so we moved to a seafood restaurant instead for those keen to try crab - salted egg crab and black pepper crab were the selections. The banana dessert and coconut icecream were pretty good too!!
21.01.2022 School holidays are over and we're full swing into 2019... needing a holiday already? How about a girls' getaway for a 5 night/6 day foodie adventure in Singapore from 17-22 March? Eat Like a Local Tours is hosting a small intimate group of women with our local guides Bjorn Shen (of Artichoke restaurant - and most recently a judge on Masterchef Singapore) and his wife and business partner, Roxanne Toh. We've still got a couple of places left and while it's only 3 weeks away,... if you can make a quick getaway why not grab a friend; or your mum; or sister and join us? We've still got a couple of places left and there's also some good flight deals floating around. Tempted? Send us a message and we'll get some details to you pronto. PS - do forgive our not so professional photography skills. :-)
20.01.2022 Ready to fly to Singapore and lead our first Eat Like a Local tour!
18.01.2022 Not long to go until we Eat Like a Local in Singapore. Our welcome dinner will be at the home (restaurant) of our local guides Bjorn and Roxanne. Artichoke turned 8 last year and here's a snippet of their birthday party! Still a couple of spots if you'd like to join us. Message us here and we'll catch you up on the details.
12.01.2022 Congratulations to the team at Candlenut! They hold the only Michelin star in the world for Peranakan cuisine. And we are lucky enough to dine there on our Eat Like a Local tour of Singapore. Come join us - only 3 places left for next March 2020!!
12.01.2022 Tuesday... was our adventure day. We started at Singapore Zoo and had breakfast with the Orangutans; our reserved table was the rock star spot right in from of them. After breakfast we wandered around the zoo which is set in a rainforest. After some afternoon down-time we then headed to Let's Go Bike Singapore for our Marina Bay Night Tour. This is the second time I've done this ride and it doesn't disappoint. I don't think it will ever get old. Singapore is so beautiful by night. We had a couple of our crew choose eScooters over bikes having not ridden for years and they were champions!

07.01.2022 One of our local hosts, Chef Bjorn Shen, is currently playing judge on MasterChef Singapore. Find a little more about him here.
03.01.2022 Wednesday: another special day. We had a beautiful lunch at Candlenut - the world's only Peranakan (traditional Singaporean culture and cuisine) restaurant with a Michelin star. Chef Malcolm Lee spent some time with us talking through the delicious dishes we were savouring. It was amazing. After lunch we headed to HT Coffee to meet Dominic and Cynthia who talked us through their traditional coffee roasting methods, their coffee blends and provided lovely samples and sweets. And then before a free night to explore or relax we headed to the just re-opened Long Bar at Raffles Hotel for our mandatory Singapore Sling! What a day!
02.01.2022 Here's a little more about our local Singaporean tour host, Chef Bjorn Shen of Artichoke restaurant (and now also MasterChef Singapore judge). Our Eat Like a Local in Singapore tour will officially kick off with a welcome dinner at Artichoke. Come and join us! The cauliflower salad and harissa prawns beckon... among many great dishes.

01.01.2022 We've had a fabulous time eating like locals in Singapore. Our 5 night and action packed 4 day foodie tour officially came to an end this morning but our guests are still out enjoying all this fabulous city has to offer for another couple of days. Some of the ladies are currently enjoying an optional cooking class as we speak! Here's some photos of our first few adventures - our welcome dinner at Artichoke Singapore, then our first morning walk around Little India and then over to the Arab Qtr for lunch. And, finally, for dinner we headed to Serangoon Gardens for a meal of chicken rice. After filling up (again) we wandered the area and capped off the evening with some desserts from Chomp Chomp hawker centre. Heaps more photos to come...
