25.01.2022 Every Month the EAVFRS meet for training to build on skills and refresh current knowledge. The topic for this month Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). Training involved a PowerPoint in the classroom to refresh knowledge on the response procedures. The crew then headed out to the local day care centre where a scenario had been set up with a spill of ammonia solution. The crew then worked through the process of rescuing the causality, setting up exclusion zones with a staging area,... sending crews in with the correct protective equipment and identifying the spilled substance all the way through to containing the spill and decontaminating equipment and crews. A great night was had by all. Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA #HAZMAT #trainingatitsbest #EAVFRS

24.01.2022 Post from Department of Fire Emergency Services As of 5:30PM this afternoon there were still 31 incidents being managed across WA, including the large complex of bushfires in the Goldfields. Below is an overview map of the current bushfires still burning as part of the Norseman West Complex Fire. This is a major incident, with over 430,000 hectares collectively burnt. The perimeters of these fires adds up to over 1000km. ... Today DFES and Dept of Communities provided further supplies to people at Caiguna and DFES Community Liaison Unit Officers are continuing to update those impacted locally as well as managing welfare across vehicle check points. Crews have continued active firefighting across the vast incident grounds, including in difficult areas where fire has impacted both sides of main roads. Thank you once again for your understanding and patience. This is a significant incident, which has been made more challenging by yesterday’s weather as well as what is to come. We will continue to keep you updated on the situation. You can find the latest warnings at www.emergency.wa.gov.au

22.01.2022 Last weekend the EAVFRS Captain Matt and Lieutenant Rohan attended the annual Western Australian Fire and Emergency Services Conference. This year was a special modified version of the conference because of the current COVID situation. The conference is a great opportunity for us to network with our fellow emergency service colleagues, gain new skills and knowledge, and enjoy a range of presentations. Matt and Rohan had the opportunity to visit Rottnest Island, look over the... future fleet of our firetrucks and attend the gala dinner for the awards presentation. 20.01.2022 Our thoughts are with families, friends, and the NSW Rural Fire Service family at this most difficult time.
20.01.2022 With the tragic situation going on with the NSW fires, it is a testament to our service that so many are travelling interstate to assist our brothers and sister...s on the fire front. Our Lieutenant Rohan Butcher and firefighter extraordinaire Luke Whitford will both deploy tomorrow to represent our brigade and state. Well done boys and stay safe. Much respect. See more
20.01.2022 At 11am on the 11th of November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent ending the Great War. Over three hundred and twenty thousand Australians volunteered to serve in the war, one hundred and fifty six thousand where wounded gased or maimed and sixty two thousand where killed. For Australia a young country with a population of under five million this meant very few families where not touched by tragedy in one way or another. Today as in many other countries we pause to remember all Australians who have served our nation pasted and present in many theatres of conflict. Honouring their courage and sacrifice to protect our country and our way of life. Lest We Forget.
20.01.2022 Meet Freddy Freddy was the brain-child of the EAVFRS built in 2001. Freddy is a fully functioning miniature fire truck complete with lights & sirens, mini fire hoses, and little firefighter jackets. Freddy has visited numerous schools and events to educate kids in our community about fire safety. Many Hours of blood sweat and tears went into making our mighty little truck. Unfortunately as of late our truck has been feeling a little unwell, so with the same passion and driv...e of when he was first created the EAVFRS have banded together to get him fixed and ready to see kids in the community again. Watch this space as we update you on his progress. #freddyfireengine #firetruck
19.01.2022 It is with great sadness that Reg Fishwick one of the EAVFRS Foundation & Life Member, passed away on Saturday. Reg had a long association with Eaton Australind Volunteer Fire Rescue Service from the formation in April 1972. He will be sadly missed. The EAVFRS paid tribute to Reg as fire fighters formed a guard of honour as Reg left the Eaton Australind Fire Station for the last time. Safe Journey Reg, Rest In Peace and God bless.

16.01.2022 A fire disaster was averted in Millar’s Creek bushland in Millbridge, Eaton yesterday when fire brigades attended a blaze near the end of Cygnet Court. Shi...re of Dardanup Chief Bushfire Control Officer Chris Hynes said the cause of the fire was as yet unknown but took the opportunity to remind residents caution was paramount as we had now entered a Prohibited Burning Period. Please refer to the Shire's Fire Prevention Order for further information https://www.dardanup.wa.gov.au/environment/fire-management/ Deliberately lit fires cause significant damage to people, property, businesses and the environment. The penalties for arson are severe. SEE SOMETHING? KNOW SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING. If you observe any suspicious behavior, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
15.01.2022 Meet Rohan Rohan has been the lieutenant at EAVFRS since July 2019. However Rohan’s journey started long before that, it all started at Harvey VFRS in 2010, then he transfered to EAVFRS in 2011. Rohan has shared his expertise and time at various deployments including Bullsbrook, Nannup, Pinjarra and Yarloop. More recently Rohan was one of 3 EAVFRS members who were deployed to NSW for 7 days. I was initially inspired to join the VFRS by a friend’s dad who was captain in Ha...rvey. After participating in the running team and the Easter WA state competitions Rohan felt he wanted to continue to volunteer in the Eaton community. Not only am I: supporting my community, but maybe I can inspire younger people the way I was inspired. 15.01.2022 BART! Broadcast. Alert. Response. Turnout. That's the name of the new additional turnout system being employed by Eaton - Australind Volunteer Fire and Rescue to enhance turnout capabilities in the local area. BART allows EAVFRS Members to respond with a ‘ACCEPT’ or ‘DECLINE’ function through the mobile app that is then registered against the EAVFRS dashboard for turnout crew. This enables crew to use the dashboard to see in real time the Members turning out to the Fire Stati...on and start planning response of appliances. BART also tracks real time traffic information, mapping with street view, and hydrant information. All of which assist with the response. Yes BART does require a subscription to enable the service but it is seen as another tool in ensuring a quality and efficient response to incidents in the local area. Further to this, the ‘dashboard’ would not have been made possible without the collective support and donations from Retravision for a television and Bunnings Warehouse Australia for a TV bracket and associated mounting hardware. As a volunteer brigade and not-for-profit organisation, the support from local community assists with the operation of EAVFRS and such support is greatly appreciated in making our service efficient and safer for the community. Thank you from the team at EAVFRS! #thankyou #firebrigade #app
13.01.2022 Congratulations to an ex member of our brigade. 50 years is an incredible achievement!!

09.01.2022 Tonight at 0001 Friday 18th December double demerits kick into place until Sunday 3rd of January 2021 inclusive. The aim of the initiative is to encourage responsible and safe driving. Many of the volunteers at EAVFRS have witnessed road trauma on local roads. Accidents do happen, but drivers can also ensure they are safe and responsible says Captain Matt Stoltenbarg. The members of the EAVFRS want everyone to enjoy the Christmas and holiday period, but do so safely. *Photo is a from a Training scenario*

07.01.2022 From the Department of Emergency Service RELOCATION TO A SAFER PLACE We understand that this has been a distressing time for people who are currently along the Eyre Highway. All firefighters are working tirelessly to fight multiple fires within the region as conditions are expected to worsen.... DFES, in consultation with other agencies, is finalising a plan to relocate these people to a safer place. Our intention is to enact this plan at first light tomorrow, when the conditions are most favourable. The relocation will be subject to weather conditions and fire behaviour as our first priority is the safety of the public and our crews. We will only proceed with relocating people if it is safe to do so. All vehicles outside of this area are asked to stay away. Eyre Highway and Coolgardie-Esperance Highway will remain closed. Keep up to date with alerts and warnings at www.emergency.wa.gov.au View the Main Roads Western Australia Travel map at www.travelmap.mainroads.wa.gov.au Ryan Bulluss
07.01.2022 Remember when our skies looked like this? It was January, 2016 and the Waroona/Yarloop Bushfire was gathering momentum. We can all play a role in helping reduce the potential for a catastrophic bushfire event like this near us. If you have an hour spare at 3pm on Sunday, join us for our free online Cool Down Summer Bushfire preparedness Seminar. 01.01.2022 On Saturday the EAVFRS had the privilege of having the Minister for Emergency Services Fran Logan MLA, visit the station. While he was down he presented Chris Hynes and his wife Sandy Hynes with The DFES Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards (VERA) for their business Hynes Contracting. This award acknowledges the important contribution made by employers and self-employed volunteers in the delivery of emergency services in Western Australia. Many employers allow our EAVFRS mem...bers and volunteers around the state to take time off work to respond to incidents or attend training, enabling them to deliver essential services that help keep our communities safe.
