22.01.2022 4 weeks into school lunches and I must admit I am struggling . While I am quite sure that not every kid in the US has deep fried popcorn chicken nor does every kid in France has a good wedge of double cream brie .......exposing myself here by sharing master 8’s lunch box today....keep it simple, keep it easy, keep it cheap, keep it nutritious, keep it within what you can manage, keep it cool carb food - bread and grainy crackers a protein food - lean salami and ...cheese 2 serves of vege - carrot and cucumber 1 serve of fruit - a apple a healthy fat (can you spy it in mr 8y’s school lunch today?) keep it cool - a chiller pad (not put in yet otherwise it would make for a boring photo ) See more

14.01.2022 BUSTED No, apple cider vinegar (ACV) doesn't have amazing weight loss properties nor does it help to control blood sugar levels, like it has been claimed.SO is it worth having?Well no... having a shot every morning isn't going to provide you with increased strength at the gym or help you break a personal best but that doesn't mean its unhealthy.SO what its great for? contains vitamin C which helps increase iron absorption a salad dressing when mixed with ol...ive oil great for preserving fruits and vegetables a splash in boiling water helps to make perfect poached eggs you can even make your own! But again it is important to note that consuming large amounts can damage both your teeth and throat because it’s a very acidic food, so use it sparingly and don't give in to those health claims #applecidervinegar #acv #nutrition #sportnutrition #performance #athletes #adolescentathletes #eatthriveperform #etp #health See more

12.01.2022 How high do you stack the vege on YOUR pizza? I feel like I am hitting a new record at 70mm tonight . Although I think that rogue spinach stalk is resembling the teenager who has waited their whole life for PHV to kick in , and FINALLY be taller than their parents!!! Oh, and then they stand on their tippy toes to really make a point in the family height-off (think stand-off ) to really hammer the point home PHV is not a new lingo with the young ones BTW. It stands fo...r Peak Height Velocity and it is that period in an adolescences life where your food budget goes from manageable on a good week to doubling your grocery bill and taking the super sized trolley at the grocery store!!! You literally watch them grow right in front of your eyes, like mushrooms, and a new school uniform is too small with 6 weeks . During this very important part of growth and development, your adolescent athletes need an incredible amount of quality calories. Young lean athletes who are loosing weight is not ok. Young female athletes loosing their menstrual cycle is not ok. If either of these are happening with your young athlete, it is good to check in that they are eating enough quality calories for this critical period of growth and development

08.01.2022 What berry is green on the outside, green on the inside and has one large seed? Does it surprised you that its an avocado? These fruits have taken over every breakfast menu in every cafe over the last few years. But is there any rhyme or reason to their popularity? They are: High in good fats: like we said in our last post not all fats are bad - they provide great energy for our young athletes when growing and training hard. ... Vitamin A: for healthy teeth, bones and skin Vitamin E: an antioxidant to protect our bodys cells Vitamin C: for the growth and development of all our body tissues High fibre content: to keep us regular and full for longer. So they arent just asthetic and on trend they are also great foods to incorporate into different recipes: on toast in a salad in a sandwich as guacamole in brownies or chocolate moose .. wait what? Avocado is a great for making baking moist or for replacing butter and oil. Give it a go next time you make some baking Avo good day #sportnutrition #nutrition #performance #athletes #youngathletes #avocado #food #nutritious #eatthriveperform See more
