With an obsessive passion for music and the art of storytelling, Eli is both the film’s composer and the head-writer of its script. In addition to these roles, Eli also served as the head of Sound Design for the film. Although he’s regarded by his mother and 3rd-grade math teacher as being light-hearted and joyful, Eli desires his career to be one focused on the writing and directing of intense film dramas. Drawn to the beauty of everyday life, Eli also aspires to explore documentary filmmaking, with hopes to uncover and tell the unimaginable stories which comprise the world around us. Eli sought great inspiration for the development of this story and it’s main character, Elaine, from his own lifelong bout with anxiety, as well as the universally shared isolation and loneliness brought on by the global pandemic. When asked about the obstacles he faced when writing the film, Eli noted the writing process was equally as exciting as it was challenging. I find my best writing comes to me when I’m able to simply walk around and just look at people- to just stare at stuff. It was kind of odd, being locked inside my room all day, staring aimlessly at my ceiling, allowed me to enter the headspace that I imagined Elaine herself to be in. We feel like it may be time we take this relationship... to the next level. ITS TIME TO MEET THE CREW! ... Starting with.... drumroll please...... {The Director} Sarah McQuinn is directing "Eavesdrop". She loves films which confront topics that are usually avoided, such as addiction or mental health. One of her current favourites is "Beautiful Boy", which highlights the hardships of drug addiction and how it can impact the whole family. Sarah came up with the idea for "Eavesdrop" when she began feeling very socially isolated due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Sarah began craving social interaction and it made her wonder what would happen if people were on their own for a long time and what lengths they would go to to have social companions. She wondered about those who struggle to make friends due to self esteem, mental illness, or high functioning anxiety etc. With this film, Sarah wanted to highlight that no matter how different you feel, there is always someone you can relate to. Sarah's biggest challenge is to direct a sensitive film in a way that everyone will either sympathise with, or relate to, without casting judgment on the main character for her differences.
