25.01.2022 Big feelings are a call for support! I can’t do this on my own is what our kids are saying. They need us there by their side sharing the load with them. They are simply not able to carry big emotional loads on their own, they’re brains and bodies are not fully developed. They are still learning these skills.... On one hand you will hear me talking a lot about treating children as you would adults. In regards to dismantling the ‘power over’ narrative, the punishment and reward system still present in our parenting and education paradigms. My go to phrase is often..... imagine if your partner or a friend did or said the same thing that you have to your child. Perhaps you’re really angry and having a big emotional release, your partner is there with you, but continues to say, stop crying, you’ll be ok How would that feel for you? On the other hand children’s brains are not fully developed until their mid 20s, so they can not learn to manage big emotions on their own until they have done it plenty of times. The brain needs consistent practice to develop these new pathways. Children need the safety of a calm loving adult by their side, to help with this building. This is Co-regulation. Side by side, in this together, but a calm presence for them to feel what that’s like. This can be hard for parents to make this reframe. And it is hard work to put into practice. But I believe it is so important. Self- regulation is for us as parents and adults, who do have the brain development and ability to take a pause, take a breath, give yourself the space to see the behaviour for what it is- a call for support. Our kids are not bad, they are not naughty. Let’s change the narrative for the next generation. #respectfulparenting #emotioncoaching #consiousparenting #parentsupport

11.01.2022 This is such a passionate area for me..... I hope as many people as possible can view this documentary https://au.demand.film/birth-time-documentary/

10.01.2022 HELD Do you desire to hold space and listen deeply to your child’s big emotions? Do you at times find this challenging?... Do you find yourself reacting to your child’s behaviour, rather than responding? If like me, you answered yes to these questions above, let me ask you this.... Do you have anyone in your life holding you? Someone who listens with their whole body Someone who doesn’t try to fix, help, give advice, offer solutions or distractions Someone you can be your whole true self around I know from my own experience that in order to parent and raise emotionally aware children, I have needed to call in people that can hold space for me as a mother. This is what rebellious self-care looks like for me now. Re-parenting myself is the hardest, most rewarding work I have ever embarked on. It’s what I want to gift and share alongside other mothers on their parenting path. To hold space To listen deeply To walk alongside Not as the expert Not as the teacher But as a friend, a guide, a loving support To show mothers everywhere that everything you you need - you already have within. DM me for more details, I’d love to connect with you. #respectfulparenting #awareparenting #emotioncoaching #parentsupport #mothersupportingmothers
