24.01.2022 Dancing En Pointe The day that a dancer receives her Pointe Shoes is one shell never forget! All the years of hard work and training finally leads up to receiving that very special pair of shoes, and everything feels perfect. One of the most common questions I get asked by our students is Miss Erin, when can I get my pointe shoes? - truth be told, there are so many things to be considered before awarding a dancer her Pointe Shoes!... There are no exact hard and fast rules as to how old a student should be to start on Pointe, as each student becomes ready at a different rate. However, many doctors suggest waiting until the growth plates in the feet are less prone to deforming forces, or when the feet stop growing. Individual strength and technical development are important factors - it is important to have a strong core, sufficient back and abdominal strength, as well as the ability to hold oneself properly whilst standing, turning and jumping. With consistent training and exercising of correct ballet technique, your dancer will working one step closer every day to her Pointe shoe goals! At EBA we are always so honored to be a part of every dancers journey to receiving her Pointe Shoes. 11.01.2022 The Importance of Uniform At EBA we have a strict uniform policy for all of our Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum students, ensuring that they are dressed appropriately for their age, the genre of dance they are participating in, as well as to uphold our core value; Elegance. This means no crop tops, bulky items of clothing or unnecessary layers getting in the way. Our uniforms help our teachers to be able to see your dancers body alignment, posture, and feet. This enabl...es us to make corrections when necessary, as there are no unnecessary clothing items distracting from the movements and technique. A consistent dress code also reduces distractions in class and helps to promote class (and studio) unity. By having a consistent uniform across both our studios, our dances have a sense of belonging. We still want our students to be able to express themselves, and often see colourful hair bows and dance bags accompanying our students to their classes. Dancers also need to be comfortable and supported in their dancewear. Inappropriate clothing can also cause discomfort and even injury, which is why it is so important to be wearing the correct dancewear for class. Our students (and teachers!) love being able to wear their EBA Uniform to the studio each and every week! With plenty of variety, sizes and styles, its easy to find something perfect for your dancer! What an amazing show you all put on I am blown away by everyone’s performances from our ballet troupe, lyrical solos, tap routines, contemporary duos and so much more - I am so proud to see such versatility in our dancers. Some comments I got through the night were wow the girls are so confident & you can te...ll they just love performing! This is such a compliment to me because this is what EBA is all about. Kathleen is our newest "Director of First Impressions" and she is here to answer all questions and queries EBA; from uniform to enrolments! Kath has extensive administrative experience (and before moving to WA from over east) previously worked in a Primary School as a school officer and executive assistant to the Principal. Kath describes her working style as "self motivated, reliable, and flexible", being both a "collaborative" and "independent" worker, with excellent time management skills.
