20.01.2022 A tip for signing up a contract to buy or sell - be prepared! When you sign the contract the selling agent will be understandably keen for all parties to nominate their representative in the settlement process Have my details on hand, or better still contact me for a business card and quote before signing the contract. If uncertain, you can write "TBA" when it comes to the nomination - but be aware that sometimes things move quickly and a decision will need to be made as soon as possible after the contract is signed.

17.01.2022 Signed up to buy or sell? You need to find someone to make sure everything falls into place at settlement. I practice as a solicitor and offer a personal, professional and fully independent settlement and conveyancing service My base is in the eastern/hills area of Perth, however I represent clients in transactions involving property anywhere in Western Australia.... More posts to follow - and website coming soon!

10.01.2022 Solicitor or settlement agent? In Western Australia settlements and conveyancing can be undertaken either by a solicitor or a person properly registered under the Settlement Agents Act. An advantage of using a solicitor in your transaction - a solicitor can draw on a broad range of legal training and experience. Also any legal issues can be dealt with on the spot, whereas a settlement agent is required to refer the matter off for legal advice Will using a solicitor result in extra costs, or an hourly rate arrangement? Not in my case. I fix the fee for each transaction and make sure that my rates are highly competitive as compared to those charged by most settlement agents.
