25.01.2022 The Fire Danger Period (including Echuca) will come into effect on Monday, 23 November 2020 at 0100hrs (1am).

24.01.2022 Have you checked or better still cleaned your chimney or flue lately? This afternoon the Echuca Fire Brigade was called to a chimney fire in Echuca. Thankfully the resident discovered the fire early and called the fire brigade immediately. With this colder weather, you should be ensuring your chimney and/or flue are not clogged prior to lighting your fireplaces.... Keep your home safe this winter by checking your chimney: Use a torch to check for creosote build-up or obstructions like bird nests. Have your chimney professionally cleaned annually.

23.01.2022 On Saturday 12th September 2020, 600 Firefighters and other Emergency Service Personnel would have stepped up to fight depression, PTSI and suicide by climbing the 28 floors of Crown Metropol Hotel wearing 25kgs of turnout gear and breathing apparatus BUT unfortunately, the current COVID restrictions in Victoria prohibit this year’s event taking place as it normally would. This hasn't stopped Echuca's very own Georgia O'Callaghan and Luke Waterson who have "stepped" up to t...he challenge and from RUOK day until October 10 World Mental Health Day they will be aiming to climb at least 3046 stairs for the Virtual Firefighter Stair Climb that hopes to raise $500,000 to improve support services, fund research and raise awareness of mental health issues. Georgia said, "Each stair that is climbed is symbolic of the struggle that people with mental health issues go through and 3046 is the goal as that is the number of lives lost to suicides each year." Luke is quoted as saying "If you see me struggling, give us a shout and if you have a fiver flick it our way. Also, drop a bit of change in the tin at BYL cafe. So please visit their donation pages below and give generously to this very worthwhile cause. https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/clim/georgiaocallaghan/ https://www.firefighterclimb.org.au/climber/lukewaterson/

22.01.2022 A reminder today is a Total Fire Ban. No fires can be lit. Stay safe and stay cool out there today!

22.01.2022 Echuca residents may see smoke in the area over the coming days, due to the RFS conducting planned burns. Remember when reporting a fire, please make sure you can see visible flames, not just smoke

22.01.2022 Good work by the members who attended this fire. https://news.cfa.vic.gov.au/-/echuca-house-fire-a-timely-re

22.01.2022 It’s hay bailing season! Here are just a few tips to ensure the safety of your hay this year.

22.01.2022 Yesterday 25 firefighters and 7 trucks attended a burnoff out of control just south of Echuca. They quickly brought the fire under control and spent another 2 hours blacking out. Property owners have legal obligations when burning off. Failing to comply with local council by-laws and state legislation can lead to a fine. For more information about burning off, go to cfa.vic.gov.au/burnoff... #registeryourburn #rochesterfirebrigade #echucavillagefirebrigade #bamawmextensionfirebrigade

21.01.2022 CFA (Country Fire Authority) has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are thanking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits.... If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe. #sparkinthedark #StaySafe #cfavic

18.01.2022 This time last year, it was the first Code Red day in a decade and didn’t we all feel the brunt of it so close to home. But we weren’t the only ones. So many communities across Victoria felt the brunt of it. This is a good reminder about what weather can do, and that the Fire Danger Period for Campaspe Shire begins THIS MONDAY MORNING at 1am. It’s a hot day, a hot weekend and a lot of hot weather is coming. Ensure you have your bushfire plan done and practiced with all your family.

11.01.2022 Training is critical to success in the fire service! Here are a few photos showing how consistent training prepares Echuca Fire Brigade members for any type of call they encounter! The training here is practising using breathing apparatus (BA) and efficient hose deployment, both of which have been used at the three separate car fires the brigade has attended over the last week! 11.01.2022 A new Commonwealth government website has been launched for those who have been bushfire affected and are looking for assistance. The National Bushfire Recovery Agency and Services Australia have created a new website which brings the available services into one central location to help those who have been affected by the devastating bushfires over summer. Anyone looking for support services, including financial and emotional support, as well as assistance with accommodation, food, household supplies or support for animals can find this information here. If you know anyone who may have been affected by the recent fires please share with them. This is a commonwealth website so those affected interstate can also access the services.
