24.01.2022 2nd Semi Final Match Report It could not be a better day for the semi final on Sunday the 19th of August with the sun out and a cool breeze blowing. It was the likely pre grand final match with Echuca Green taking on the Kyabram Bombers. With many of the green players feeling seasons impact (injuries), a win and a week off was looking like a good idea. After yet another inspiration speech by coach Rob Morris the boys went out hit the score board first. Great pressure and har...d talking from the middle field saw Echuca dominate the first five minutes. Kyabram fought back into the game with some handy foot work. Green went into the first break with a three point lead. The second quarter Kyabram stepped it up winning the 50-50 ball, despite the hard work from Richard Tonizzo and Shaun Haffenden down back to try and stop the run. While they were working hard down back Layton McCann was trying to do his best to keep the Green’s score ticking over. The half time siren went and green grouped up in the middle of the ground and went into the rooms as a team. Only being a goal down Echuca was very much still in it. Rob asked for more from the boys, to be harder at the ball, to beat your player, to prove why you deserved a spot in the team. They returned to the field and took control of the game with Dylan Russell laying some hard tackles. Nick McCann and Lachie Stewart continued to push through the midfield and give plenty of drive into the forward line. Jake Toll capped off some great work booting two goals. Green went into the last quarter with a 15 point lead. They continued to work hard for each other and the rewards came. Tom McMinn didn’t stop working on the wing all day and Chris Robbins worked hard at full back. The boys will see the winner out of Kyabram and Notre Dame in the grand final in two weeks time after beating kyabram 91 to 52.
