23.01.2022 A short video of some of the works from today.

23.01.2022 Some of our members have been busy today laying more of the track extension, well done guys, great work. Saturday September 21st. all was ready for the day, men and equipment deployed, it was all go. Here’s a few more snapshot’s of the day’s activity. A weekend working bee was originally planned, however with the number of members on hand things really happened. With all the fencing completed, the trench dug (excavator/backhoe) and back-filled (manpower, shovels & wheel-b...arrows) with crushed concrete, levelled to about 50mm below ground level, we estimate about 500 of our concrete sleepers were loosely laid on top. Late afternoon when we downed tool’s, it was agreed Sunday’s working bee would not be required. Next job on the list, buy more steel, lightly roll it, weld sections and level the track. We've added a few more photo's to Saturday's post, stay tuned for more.... See more

23.01.2022 With most of the new track-work up the hill, past the ‘scone shed’ and to the container completed, work has commenced on getting the track bed ready for rail and erecting the fencing around the perimeter of 15 metre radius loop. Some photo's of that Work are already posted, a few tasks like moving relocating the Pump shed, pump and trough to the north of said loop had to be effected before we could progress. Here’s a selection of photo’s of track-work up to the container, currently a storage facility, this will eventually double up as a tunnel leading to the loop. This panel of photo's starting point is on Eastern end of the main track and go uphill to the containers and New Loop, this section of track was laid some 18 months ago.

20.01.2022 Hi all sorry we have canceled the trains today due to bad weather. We hope you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year and we will see you all in march for our next run.

19.01.2022 The Echuca Steam Rally is in full swing and we have 4 steam engine's and 3 diesel engine's plus the sun is shining what a great day for a outing

15.01.2022 Recent Update: Post of 27th Sept 2019

13.01.2022 More works completed today by Tim and Phil great effort guys thanks. Continuing where we left off after getting the fencing up and the track bed prepared last Saturday, the steel has arrived and we’re ready for the next phase, lightly rolling (for the curved sections), laying the rail and welding to the ties on the sleepers. On Friday 27th two intrepid members got to, levelled, laid and ballasted about 30 metres (that’s 5 x 6 metre panels) of track, this is most of the stra...ight and a bit if the curve from the toilets back to the gateway to the loop. Using concrete sleepers, our Track-work is done in situ, it’s a bit back-breaking after a while when you’re clamping & setting the rail ready for welding, thank goodness we’ve got a couple of younger ‘gun workers’. Further to the east (from the toilets back toward the scone shed) there’s a few more sections to be done, plus another set of points. The next part is rolling and getting the loop sections done. Here’s a few photo’s of the works in progress. Update: 1 July 2020. The last two photo's were taken recently of work completed in early March before Covid-19 restrictions took hold, showing the new point's which now complete the Upper loop. Another set of points will be fitted to the west end of the passing loop near the scone shed.

10.01.2022 Completing the New Extension Work on this section commenced some 18 months ago and has been progressing steadily. The last job being done just before restrictions were placed upon us, was the completion (albeit a set of points is yet to be fitted at west end of the passing loop near the scone shed) of the upper loop back in early March, i.e. bringing the track past the toilet block and setting the points at the entrance to the storage shed - come tunnel, this then set the sce...ne for the next major and final piece of the new extension, the Eastern loop. Works began here on 31st May when the post holes were bored and posts dropped in place, screenings were delivered in preparation for the track base and roughly spread along most of the length, at the working bee on 6th June, work centred on getting the track bed and track from the original oval track past the crossing to allow RV’ers to access the northern side of the track area in the advent of re-opening the park. The all important track height along the 100 odd metre length was commenced in the days before this working bee to enable works on this section to be completed on that day. The new track section involves multiple radii thus ensuring a very smooth curve. Starting at the track to the south of the ‘vine tunnel’ back to the original oval track (at the big tree) near the crossing to the traverser, the new curve has a gradual drop in height of about 350mm. Saturday 13th track-work recommenced, starting about 9:00am, as track bed was being prepared, track was being laid, post holes were being rammed and rails fitted to the posts, we called it day about 3:00pm. Fencing was now complete from the crossing to the points on Eastern end and the track work required about another 40 or so feet to meet the 5 transition piece near the points. Plans to complete the fence from the big tree near the crossing back toward the station are well in hand. This part of the extension work’s were completed over the course of 4 working bee’s in 5 weeks, plus a couple of other days to set the radii and the track height, We’ve taken many photo’s of before, during and completion of the work’s (which occurred last Saturday 27th June at about 2:00pm.). Here’s a pictorial view of the proceedings. Enjoy.

08.01.2022 A bit later on...Tim got to be the first to drive a train on the new loop. Henry and Rex (with a long consist) on the new loop.

06.01.2022 Saturday 12th Oct. Top loop is now complete up to the toilets. Phil & Tim worked on this section, about the same time Frank had gone to the track to do some tidying up and decided to help help out on the track as well. Well done men. Here's Tim's pictorial of the entry track panel of the loop.

06.01.2022 Some time ago, a few photo’s were taken of the new upper loop area, After the working bee of Sept. 21st a single photo was taken of the most of the same area after the bobcat had tidied up the scene & before we’d knocked off. These form part of the before and after scenes. This Sunday October 6th at our Monthly Run Day, providing we have enough members, we might attempt a working bee too. So, come in for a train ride and if you’re hungry, bring lunch and cook it for free on the gas fired BBQ and have a look at what we’re achieving at CVMR Inc. See you there.
