23.01.2022 Community Spotlight How sweet it is! This week our community spotlight is shining on one of Echuca Moama’s most popular culinary delights, The Sweet Meadow... If you’ve ever popped your nose in, there’s a good chance that you’ve come across the lovely owner and operator Aishe Besim . Aishe wanted to create a space that she felt was lacking in regional Victoria a health-conscious, vegan cafe where people would want to spend their time, not just their money. She loves how cafes have become a central hub for communities and doesn’t believe that people should have to travel to the city to experience conscious, sustainable alternatives. Aishe said that she wanted to make a change in [her] life and create a space where [she] could grow and start something afresh, where [she] could be creative and where [she] hoped to inspire others to be creative too. There are so many incredible offerings on the menu that it’s hard to give just one recommendation. If push came to shove, the snickers smoothie bowl is pretty epic! In terms of vegan fare, people say that their corn fritters are an absolute must. Exciting things are always happening. They’ve just launched their Spring menu and are so keen for you to try their new dishes. If you hadn’t noticed, the website has been reworked, so there’s lots more opportunity for non-locals to grab a piece of The Meadow from afar. Next time you’re in town be sure to drop into the Sweet Meadow! #echuca #echucamoama #moama #visitmelbourne #visitvictoria

13.01.2022 Community Spotlight Meet Abu Shebani! This is the man responsible for creating the many wonderful tastes and aromas of Shebani's Tastes of the Mediterranean.... Before settling in Australia, Abu worked (as a chef) and travelled extensively throughout the Mediterranean. It was there on the Greek Island of Mykonos, where he met his lovely wife Faye in 1994. Abu’s dream of renovating, decorating and creating a Mediterranean themed restaurant right here in the port of Echuca came true in 2003 when they first opened their doors. You’re not alone if you’ve remarked on the unique decorations that can be seen around the venue. Most of the decorations are actually Abu & Faye’s from their extensive travels through the Middle East and Mediterranean. Now to the food There is so much that is absolutely wonderful on this menu. If you’re the only one in the region that hasn’t tried Abu’s falafel salad, you need to get on the job. It’s not surprising that so many of their customers say it’s the best they’ve ever eaten. Abu and Faye say that their themed dinners are something everyone should try. The monthly 3 course dinner will bring you all the way around the Mediterranean without having to leave Echuca. Important in these times..! They wanted to let us know that when business is back to normal, they’ll be able to start the dinner’s up again. They also said that they are extremely grateful for this wonderful community who have continued to support us over the past 7 years. We’re pretty grateful for all that they both do, too! See more

06.01.2022 We're running a special series of episodes over at Spreading the Good Stuff Podcast this month featuring the inspiring stories of some awesome small businesses... in our region. Stories of how they started, how they've grown, and how they've pivoted during this time of global pandemic to safeguard what they've built. This four-part conversation series is delivered in partnership with Murray River Council as part of this year's NSW Small Business Month Festival. We released our third episode in the series today which is a brilliant conversation with Kate Redfern from 12 GOOD EGGS at Barham. Episode 1 was all about building your business brand online and episode 2 was an interview with Zowie Crump from The Art of Zowie Photography and Julianne Daly from Moama's Border Inn Hotel. You can tune in to all episodes over at Itunes - https://podcasts.apple.com//spreading-the-goo/id1399953334, on Spotify or on Whooshkaa. You can also watch the video of the podcast recording at www.yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au. Our final episode in the series will be released next Thursday. Let us know if you've been tuning in! {image description: a light pink graphic with an image of Kate Redfern holding a carton of eggs and carrying her baby in a carrier on the front of her chest. Kate has blonde hair, is wearing sunglasses on her head and is dressed in a black jumper. Her lower body is cropped out of the picture. Kate's baby is wearing a white long sleeved top and a blue and white striped beanie. The words Small Business Spotlight - Interview With Kate Redfern - 12 Good Eggs are written in white font at the top of the graphic, and Spreading The Good Stuff is written in white font at the bottom. There is also a breakout box of text that says #NSW Smallbiz20 Small Business month 1-31 October 2020. The podcast episode number 54 is also written in the top corner of the graphic}
