23.01.2022 THE WEEKS THAT WERE...... (since there's been a few between games) So COVID obviously dealt us the first blow with the fact we haven't been able to play for a few weeks but it's great to see everyone back out there enjoying the sport they love!! Blow number 2 came in the form of our club being broken into. It's devastating to have this happen when we work so hard to get grants for equipment and so on. We are truly grateful to the other clubs in Echunga and the league that... have offered us support and assistance, please keep your ear to the ground and if you hear anything pass it on to the Mt Barker Police station. So back to the games..... Friday night saw our U12s with a win against Mt Barker. Wickets went to H. Caust, E. Doble and B. Crosby, awesome effort guys!! Doble and Crosby also shared in some runs as did R. Kettlestring, great to see all the kids out there giving it a good crack! The Under 14s resulted in a washout on Saturday morning with the strange "summer" weather we are having. Great effort from J. Perry who retired on 25 and J. Steward who made 23 before we had to call it quits, exciting things to come when we actually get to play a full game!! Pleasing for the C Grade to get back into the winners circle this week D. Kettlestring was again strong with the bat and both K.Biersteker and A. Walton starred with the ball each finishing with 3 wickets a piece. Special thanks to the "ring ins" that made their way back to us at Echunga and took to the field so we could have a game this week. B Grade had a positive game against Maccy, we finished on 6/226 and we had them 8/215 at close of innings. M. Lambourn had a day out with the bat on 116, great knock! The captain took lead with the ball and finished with 4/28 off 7 including 2 maidens and T. Smith 3/23 off his 8. Awesome work, go you Miners!!

19.01.2022 THE WEEK THAT WAS The last few test matches have been an interesting example of both the game itself and some of the on field antics... it is a timely reminder for us to think about what cricket conduct should look like and it's safe to say there were some very poor examples at such a high level!! It is always important to respect both your team mates, opposition and umpires, think about what you are saying as there can be a fine line between harmless sledging and someth...ing more.... Now to this weeks games... U14s added another win to their tally against a courageous Lobethal/Birdwood team that should be commended for their persistence. Stand out in the field was J. Perry with 2 wickets, although it looked to be pretty tidy bowling across the board. Check out my cricket if you want more details C Grade Echunga 6/141 defeated Nairne 7/126 We welcomed T. Jamieson to the club and didn't he have a day out not only scoring runs but finishing with 2 wickets, 2 maidens, a catch and a run out!! The other runs were shared by Kettlestring and Kennedy who also had strong performances with the ball, awesome work guys!! B Grade Echunga 2/196 defeated Nairne 7/195 Wickets were shared with Hull, Pocock and Kupke taking 2 each, as was the work in the field with Prior taking 2 catches and one a piece to Champion, Lambourn and Marston but the star of the show was M. Lambourn who scored a magnificent 133 not out (I think there was some sibling rivalry driving him as he had to do one better than his brother who finished 132 not out earlier in the season) Great work lads!! Another great week for the Miners, weekend off for Australia Day then back to do it all again

03.01.2022 THE WEEK THAT WAS!! Birthday wishes to our secretary Tam Rothe, hope you had an awesome day! Well ,what a return to cricket!! ... Started Saturday morning for the U14s who started their 2 dayer against Lobethal/Birdwood with the bat. We finished on 7/187 with a score of 49 for T. Clark and a 50 not out to J. Steward!! Awesome effort kids and good luck in the field next week! C Grade 2/135 defeated Maccy 6/134. Was great to welcome A. Nykamp back into the side who scored a handy 51 runs assisted by a great captains knock from M. Murphy of 61 not out. B Grade 4/297 defeated Wistow 8/95. Great to have many blokes sharing the runs this week - M. Lambourn 81, H. Pocock 66 not out, L. Tansell 50 not out and S. Prior 45. Wicket taking was also a shared affair with K. Biersteker 1/3 off 4, S. Lambourn 1/6 off 3, H. Pocock 2/12 off 6 and young L. Marston an impressive 2/8 off 6!! These wins further consolidate the seniors run to the finals with both teams currently in the top 4!! Awesome effort, let's go you Miners!!

02.01.2022 THE WEEK THAT WAS Congratulations to U14 player Rebecca Hull who has been selected to represent Fleurieu Districts in the U16 Girls Country Champs to be held in the Barossa in the New Year and to Hully who will coach the team! U12s had a tough game against Nairne on Friday Night. Although we couldn't get over the line our bowling was on point Special mentions to C. Rothe 2/6 off 2, E. Doble 1/1 off 1, A. Kettlestring 1/3 off 1 and C. Stewart 1/9 off 2. Great effort by... all the kids U14s started their 2 dayer against Lenswood, with a strong bowling attack getting the visitors all out for 105 in the 25th over. Awesome bowling from J.Perry 2/12 off 5, W. Kettlestring 3/10 off 2.4, L. Datson 2/3 off 2 and T.Clark just missing a hattrick. F. Kettlstring had an impact in the field with 2 catches and A. Moran had a dabble with the gloves and did a great job! This meant we started our attack with the bat with S. Fahey 20 from 37 and T.Clark who hit his first 6 with 47 , both not out and Echunga finishing the day on 87! Chasing another 18 runs to finish out the game when we resume on Saturday morning! C Grade had a bye this week which was lucky for us as we were very light on in the B's. Well done to all the guys that stepped up and helped out this week. B Grade sadly went down to Bremer/Callington. L. Tansell and H.Pocock starred with the bat (67 and 42 respectively) and H.Pocock took 2 wickets in his 4 overs. The Mini Miners were certainly the stand outs this week which is so exciting for us as a club to see such great talent coming through our junior ranks, hopefully a sign of things to come as they progress through their cricket careers! Awesome effort Miners, keep it up!!
