05.01.2022 Today we explore language and early literacy. Language plays an essential role in a childs development. It enables a child to communicate effectively with their family, learn at school, socialise with friends, build relationships with others and complete simple tasks. When we help children learn how to use language, we want to start by helping them do more of what theyre already doing, by reinforcing and helping them feel proud of their attempts to communicate. Routines a...re great for language learning. Some of the first language children understand and use is associated with a familys routine. Take a moment to notice how much opportunity there is for communication and the sharing of language during meal times, dressing, traveling or walking, packing up, bath time and going to bed. https://bit.ly/ecms-early-literacy See more
