04.01.2022 BEFORE. This caravan had crazed and broken down top coat on the sides from extreme weather damaged and heavy and deep oxidation on the front.
04.01.2022 Glossy doesn't always mean oxidation free. Left side of the tape is NOT polished, right side is polished. The reflection of the headtorch is evidently clear on the polished side..... Not so clear on the unpolished side due to oxidation.
03.01.2022 EXPOSING ADVISE FROM A SPECIALIST CARAVAN DETAILER THAT CARAVAN MANUFACTURES WOULDN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW. This advice is specially for those who own a painted aluminium caravan with similar style and colour panels to the van on the picture. So..... You have spent months looking for your dream van.. and then you spent a large chunk of your hard earned money to buy it. And now you assume the exterior paint is built to take on the harsh aussie weather.. But you are wrong! We have detailed lots of aluminium vans with similar color and style of panels and MOST (not all) of them were past the point of restoration. Not because they were too damaged but because the poor quality of the paint job as a whole. The first shocking problem is that they don't have a base coat! This could be consider a major sin in the spray painting world. Then, the paint is extremely THIN, which makes it very risky and challenging to restore if there is deep oxidation. This also makes regular polishing and restoration impossible because over time the paint will be removed by the polish. And finally the type of paint used oxidises very quickly and deeply as if the paint used didn't have any UV protectors. What can you do: 1. If your van still under warranty ask your dealer if the manufacturer will cover respraying due to poor paint job. 2. Use a caravan cover if possible. 3. If your van is not undercover, wax it REGULARLY. 4. If you are too busy get a durable protection such as a sealant or ceramic coating. We can help with this. Not protecting will cost you several $1000s in respraying.
