23.01.2022 Musician Bobby McFerrin uses the pentatonic scale to reveal one surprising result of the way our brains are wired. You will be intrigued by how humans process t...houghts and think. Look at this video you are going to absolutely love it. Watch it till the end. "It's an exploration of what constitutes a "musical" sound -- all notes are just tones of a certain frequency, yet our minds find certain sequences of tones more aurally pleasing than others. If you play a certain note, or a certain couple of notes, your mind will want to fill the next one in predictably. It's the scientific pursuit of why we consider certain things to be beautiful, and why certain sequences are embedded in our brains." - I'm a Freaking Genius. #IMAFGe

22.01.2022 A beautiful and unexpected gift from a thankful piano student and his mum

22.01.2022 Lucky my students don’t need the music notation to play these pieces https://m.youtube.com/watch

21.01.2022 This is very creative and a good mix up of a classical favourite and jazz standard https://www.facebook.com/818334312/posts/10158184855749313/

19.01.2022 That’s what it feels like.

19.01.2022 My lovely piano student Jenny just got her first acoustic piano after learning on a keyboard for 2yrs. She’s very excited and I’m so thrilled for her - especially since I was the piano’s second owner

19.01.2022 I knew math and music were related

17.01.2022 Amazing! Every human being is capable of such complex rhythmic speech which is shown here by notating it. For those of you who think you are not musical - here is proof that you are :)

17.01.2022 Our Musical Memories had a well received Show today at Nazareth House nursing home.

16.01.2022 Piano lessons in Capalaba are still going ahead as usual. If things have to change due to COVID19 then we will move lessons to Skype or Zoom. It’s at this time more than ever that we need music in our lives

15.01.2022 Just did an extra special online piano lesson with my student Jenny today. Neil Moore, the creator of the piano method I am teaching, popped in and joined us online for part of her lesson. Jenny got to play a piece for Neil and ask him many questions. What a thoughtful and generous man Neil Moore is and the positive impact of today's lesson will create long lasting memories.

15.01.2022 Photos from our Carols on the lawn last night with several students playing and singing. Thanks especially to my friends from Musical Memories for leading us in song

14.01.2022 Today marked the end of an era. I resigned at our AGM after 7yrs being musical director and pianist for Musical Memories and playing many nursing home shows. I will miss my beautiful friends and the nursing home residents

12.01.2022 Tomi has had 40 piano lessons so far and really enjoys making his own music (and his little brother loves it too)!

12.01.2022 This was written by Neil Moore creator of the Simply Music piano curriculum I teach

11.01.2022 My son James Davies will be performing live tonight at a local Brisbane radio station around 7.30pm local time. Here's the link if you want to listen or otherwise check him out on Spotify

10.01.2022 Professional development day networking with several other piano teachers and the amazing Neil Moore, creator of Simply Music - the wonderful piano method I teach in my studio

10.01.2022 Oh my goodness! I really like having the black keys too so don't think I would like this piano - how tricky to play!

09.01.2022 Today I was reflecting and reminiscing about the many shows I played with at local nursing homes with Musical Memories and felt sad that there have been no shows allowed since March and who knows when that will change. The residents and the group used to love this piece and I loved playing it so thought I'd record it today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvcb6gDbYiU

08.01.2022 Our annual Carols on the lawn was especially appreciated this year and we were grateful to be able to hold this event and the weather was fabulous. A wonderful gathering bringing people together with food and song and lots of inflatable Christmas decorations the kids loved

07.01.2022 A great opportunity to do the Simply Music Teacher training (the training cost is in US$)

07.01.2022 During this time of self isolation many positives are appearing including having time to just sit and play some pieces I learnt when I was a teenager many moons ago. Here is one I used to love and it still moves me. It’s called Waltz by Gliere (excuse the many mistakes)

07.01.2022 If you missed hearing the first performance live on the radio last night here is my son’s latest single

03.01.2022 Excellent information here and I would encourage everyone to have a listen

03.01.2022 8yrs and 287 Simply Music piano lessons with this beautiful girl. A few tears were shed by us both today as we finished our last lesson together. Makayla has been delightful to teach and now knows how to work out any piece she wants to play. Wishing her much love as she moves into her bakery apprenticeship and senior schooling
