21.01.2022 The upcoming Christmas and New Year’s period is an opportunity to pause and reflect on a year that stands alone. It is very rare to have an event that impacts people around the world in a similar way. In some ways we are now closer to people we have never met while many are geographically isolated from family or friends for the first time in their lives. We are living and working through a remarkable time. This year employees overcame fear and came into work to deliver nutrit...ious food. We all changed how we worked, some changed where they worked, we became Covid-compliant and managed in difficult environments while the nightly news was seldom good. The people across our industry and businesses trusted each other, worked together, and worked well. In many ways we will be happy to see the end of Year 2020, but in saying that this year revealed greater capabilities within us all. This is the time of year to come together (while remaining socially distanced) and celebrate. 01.01.2022 On January 11th 2011 flood water took hold of Brisbane and our Eco-Farms Brisbane Office and Warehouse were pretty much destroyed. The water level in our warehouse was 3 pallet spaces high, we lost everything. This month marks the 10th Anniversary of this incident. Just by chance a cold room builder happened to come across from another client of theirs and offered to rebuild our warehouse. This meant we could keep trading and so the office was set up on my dining room table n...ot far from the office. The temporary warehouse was at our Transport companies (Menz) yard. As a team, led by Phil Rougon, we cleaned and rebuilt and the building was lockable within 6 weeks. During this time our comrades in Sydney stepped up and a couple of key staff from QLD went to Sydney to pack orders and get stock to QLD. For the first 6-8 weeks twice weekly Sydney would send a semi trailer with orders packed, a few staff in QLD would break them down and put them on transport to be delivered. All up it was about 12 weeks that Sydney helped with the wholesale and grocery orders and pre pack direct from Sydney until we were able to take the supply back over and prepack were able to once again pack in Brisbane. It was a traumatic time for all involved but everyone stuck together and supported each other through the rebuild. We evacuated the warehouse again 2 years later in 2013 when a cyclone dumped rain and the government's mapping indicated we would flood again. In 2016 after years of looking for an appropriate site, we moved to Carole park, where we are located today. Only a few staff are still employed from that time but it is a time none of us will forget. We can't believe it has been 10 years!!!
