21.01.2022 We have been having a great time celebrating Science Week at Eco Kids Village. Science encourages critical thinking and the children have been busy experimenting, investigating, hypothesizing and reflecting as they discover how liquids form solids, how chemicals react and how plants absorb liquids.

21.01.2022 Our Cassowaries are channeling their inner archaeologists, exploring all things dinosaur-related. So you could imagine my frustration in finding a toddler-friendly fossil kit... they dont exist, but thanks to some creative thinkers, you can make your own! Thanks in advance to our cook, Judy who will be on bone baking duty this week :) https://parentingchaos.com/make-your-own-dinosaur-fossil-d/

20.01.2022 The kookaburra room have been acknowledging Australia this week. One topic we have explored is our native Australian animals such as the emu, kangaroo, koala, wombat and the list goes on. The children have enjoyed listening to a variety of stories about these Australian animal’s, one of these being the story of Edward the Emu. Tired of his life as an emu, Edward decides to try being something else for a change. He tries swimming with the seals, he spends a day lounging wit...h the lions, and even slithers with the snakes. But Edward soon discovers that being an emu may be the best thing after all. This story teaches the children to be happy with who you are and to just be yourself. The children then had the opportunity to get creative and made their own Edward the emu using coloured shredded paper and paper plates. These are now beautifully displayed in our classroom. Next week we will be extending the children’s learning as we read all about Edward’s friend ‘Edwina the Emu’ by Sheena Knowles.

16.01.2022 During the recent floods that hit the Mid North Coast, our friends at Muddle Top House in Telegraph Point devastatingly lost everything. At Eco Kids Village, we will be running a donation drive where we will be collecting much needed donations of new puzzles, art supplies and books. We appreciate if these items are new and unused. If you have anything you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the office or place them on our donation table that will be located in the hallway.

13.01.2022 Mum, can I have this? says your child holding up a sugary drink or packet. No, its not healthy. you respond. Aww, come on mum . And so the negotiations... (battles) start. Sound familiar? . Now imagine this: I wonder whats in this? says your child as they hold the sugary drink or packet. . Your child then reads the ingredients and CHOOSES to put the drink or packet on the shelf. . No negotiation needed. How good would that be? . Lets be real here. If youre like many mums, youre probably thinking this is an impossibility. You might be thinking something like: . My kids LOVE junk foods! or My kids are addicted to sugar! Or even My kids HATE fruit and vegetables! . But what if it wasnt just a dream that your kids CHOSE healthy food? . What if it DID happen? . What if, instead of CONSTANTLY nagging you for the foods that arent good for them, your kids CHOSE FOR THEMSELVES not to have them? . And because they chose not to have these sugar foods, they started liking MORE of the foods (fruit and veggies) that are good for them? . This is totally possible when your kids become EMPOWERED to make better food choices for themselves. . This is what I do. . I help parents like you EMPOWER your kids to make better food choices and STOP the constant battle over food. . And I have watched this approach transform meal times into a more peaceful place for kids and parents alike. . Join me for my FREE Empowering Kids Masterclass where Ill share my top tips and strategies to help put a STOP to the constant battle over food. . Hello more peace of mind! . Grab your seat NOW! https://therootcause.com.au/go/masterclass/ See more

01.01.2022 Calling all earth angels to take a moment to go out on a limb... if you sense something isnt right, someone seems down, you just may change their destiny for the better... Ill never forget the difference a lovely lady made on our sons angelversary 2 years ago. I sat at the lighthouse weeping behind my sunglasses and felt incredibly alone with my grief. A beautiful earth angel came and sat beside me with her hand on my shoulder and wanted to know all about him, I wish I ...knew her name so I could thank her.. while grief comes in waves, I can honestly say that after this random act of kindness, I left the lighthouse that afternoon feeling lighter and grateful. 2020 has been a challenging year and never has it been more important to reach out and offer support, especially when many of us are missing hugs... You can make a difference not just today but always... 3 minutes out of your day may change the outcome for another. https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask
