24.01.2022 Wow! It's been a LONG time between posts, sorry! We've been busy with the new addition to the family, born last December, and working on some fantastic jobs. Throw in a tip to Melbourne for the International Flower and Garden show and time just ran away from us. Hopefully you'll be hearing from us a lot more from now on. One of our recent jobs involved transforming a yard from your average suburban grass/dirt block into a native oasis, complete with creek and viewing decks. We're really happy with the way this job came together, and so is our client! Check out the photo's below and let us know what you think in the comments.

20.01.2022 Our passion for natives doesn't end with plants. Last night we rescued a distressed and dehydrated Magpie chick. He's recovering at our local 24hr vet. Please make sure you've put water out for our native wildlife in this heat. Chicks are particularly vulnerable and many will succumb to heat stress. Our modern urban environments make finding water and food harder but we can all help. This is why we're so passionate about native and sustainable landscaping with water being the heart of the environment. If you find a native animal in distress please contact Wires on 13 000 wires (NSW).

20.01.2022 We've had some extra special help on site this week. Nobody can resist those waddles!

19.01.2022 If you could have any garden in the world, what would you have?

19.01.2022 Recently Better Homes & Gardens ran a segment on how you can create a pond in your own backyard. Unfortunately the result was a pond full of structural errors, destined to fail. We believe in creating landscapes with integrity and a national show teaching and encouraging its viewers to create something with such poor standards is troubling to us. The pond which the show created does not have any filtration, shows the pond liner, will not cope with the ammonia produced by any ...fish and the mortar will crack and fail. All of our ponds are designed and created on site, tailored to the individual needs of your area and are self-sustaining ecosystems within themselves, capable of growing flowering plants and sustaining a large and varied number of fish and other amphibians such as frogs. Have a look at the link below, and for comparisons sake, I've also uploaded an image of one of our ponds, which we were happy to hear recently is now home to over 30 fish, frogs and multiple happy plants. https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com//how-to-make-a-easy-backya/

16.01.2022 Russ was lucky enough to meet a few of his hero's recently. Here he is with Australian native landscaping guru Phillip Johnson and Gardening Australia host, Costa Georgiadis! (Our baby snuck in too).

14.01.2022 You may have noticed a small change, our name! We're now operating under the name ECOlibrium Landscapes, a name which gives our clients and fans a better understanding of who we are as a company, our ethos and beliefs. We've always been passionate about sustainable landscapes in balance with our lives but have found in the past that our name, while a whole lot of fun, didn't convey this to prospective clients. We're hoping that the change to ECOlibrium Landscapes will help people to identify us and open up thoughtful and inspired conversations about the spaces in which we live. We'd love to know your thoughts! Sound off in the comments below.

11.01.2022 Which album's your favorite and why?

10.01.2022 Hi everyone and welcome to spring! I know its been a while but there is something that I want to share with you that I hope you share with others. On The Living Room (28/8/15) Jamie Durie was brought in to help a couple that required a yard renovation. I must say his design was quite nice, especially considering that he is required to spruik Bunnings products which can limit options. My disappointment resides in his plants selection. Whilst I can deal with him recommending... a variety of exotics as the new garden is an improvement over what was existing, there is one thing I cannot sit in silence about. Jamie thought it was a good idea for the couple to plant bamboo within the garden. He said it was a clumping bamboo, which is what many designers, landscapers and nursery people recommend as it is non-invasive. This is wrong. It may not be as quickly invasive as running bamboo, but it is still problematic and, in my opinion, an environmental weed (not to mention other problems it may cause). I have attached some photos of the problems bamboo can cause with its invasive nature into our bushland and if unchecked it can choke vast amounts of habitat. This is not to say that natives are free from potentially being problematic or potential weeds themselves, but the risk is significantly reduced and they will provide habitat for our wonderful and unique fauna. So Im asking, pleading, with you all: please, never use bamboo. The cost to our native flora and fauna from this invasive species is extreme and difficult to combat but its also easily prevented. (Apologies for the poor quality pics!) See more

05.01.2022 Remember our video of our duck visitors? Well, here's the transformed site, fully landscaped, with a native minor bird already enjoying the native flowers.

04.01.2022 Here we are starting a recent job at Bass Hill, be sure to come back over the next few weeks to see the transformation.
