18.01.2022 A big day of Orchard transformation. Converting to syntropic ecology systems utilising mulch and wood from the yard to fertilise and hold in moisture. Step one towards an edible back yard for Peta. Get in touch if you are in the Guildford/Castlemaine region and you would like an Orchard maintenance/TLC plan or to start eating your back yard! Most orchards can be 'retro-fitted' to use less water and be more productive. We also do full design plans.

17.01.2022 Ready to plant some Vata balancing herbs in Lisa's Ayurvedic medicinal herb garden ^_^

13.01.2022 It is good for your mind, body and soul Ecological gardening (listening, watching, mimicking...) helps me to find peace and get through times where I am truly grieving all the destruction in the world. To replant habitat, grow food, have my hands in direct connection with the earth has been the most powerful therapy I have experienced.

10.01.2022 A lovely winter day of gardening for Sherri on Dja Dja Wrung country in Guildford. Winter is a great time to suppress weeds with a lovely thick layer of wood mulch. I have used a thin layer of cow manure to prevent nitrogen drawdown and to encourage microbial life and the transformation into living topsoil. We are working to nourish and look after over 200 native plant species recently planted, from Newstead Natives. This beautiful garden is working towards being a thriving habitat for local and migratory native birds and pollinators. More photos soon!

09.01.2022 Forest gardening - polycultures of herbacious plants, ground covers, creepers, nitrogen fixing plants, mineral accumulators, habitat for native birds and insects and fruit trees!!! A luscious forest garden collaboration with ecologist and fellow soil ecology enthusiast The Barefoot Geospatialists back in 2016. See how we grow! Looking forward to collaborations in the future. May we grow soil, habitat and thrive!

09.01.2022 All in a mornings work! This time I photographed the whole process of stage one for a food forest garden design for Lisa. Stage two will involve mulching over the whole garden bed a foot deep. The mulch will then compost down whilst the occupants are away. Then, the first fruit trees will be planted. Stage three will involve a polyculture mosaic of edible and native layers. This involves interplanting smaller fruit bearing shrubs, planting mineral accumulating plants such as comfrey and artichoke along the tree driplines, planting in a border of pollinator and small bird attracting herbs and native shrubs, and a moisture retaining ground cover of sweet potato. Lisa is also dreaming of Taro, Turmeric and I suggested a small pond for the frogs and birds! Dreams coming alive!

06.01.2022 Gardening in february: How are all of your summer plots going? Are your tomatoes fruiting, your beans blooming? Do you need help in your plot or to get things growing strong? Get in contact for my gardening services :)

05.01.2022 Some garden updates! Do you love water saving gardens? I have been loving sheet mulching - an easy and affordable garden solution. Here I have used sheet mulching to redefine the paths of a very sloped garden.

01.01.2022 It's going to be a hot week! Make sure to water your garden in the morning before the heat sets in or after the sun sets to keep your soil hyrdated and to prevent water burns on your plants during the day.
