25.01.2022 Our skin is the largest organ in our body and its one of the few organs that we can actually see! Our skin gives us a unique insight into whats going on inside if you know where to look. It also helps us keep in check with our eating habits, stress levels and lifestyle choices.... If something is going on with your skin, take it as a sign to investigate what else might be going on for you in that moment. ~ Bridgit

22.01.2022 I think I may have an unhealthy relationship with my slow cooker... This is what my mornings look like at the moment... prepping a range of vegetables to add to my slow cooker. 21.01.2022 What dried fruit is this??? . . . If you guess an apricot, youre the winner!!! ... Sulphites (like Sulfur dioxide) are natural found in some foods. However sulphites are also used as an additive to maintain colour and shelf life of aged ingredients. This is how non organic dried apricots keep their orange colour and tart flavour, plus they tend to have a longer expiry date. Those with a sensitivity to sulphites tend to react to dried fruits because of this. But you will also find sulphites in wine, deli meats, sausages, vegetables juices, some pickled food ect. Look on the back of labels and if there is there number 220-228 its usually a sulphite. Personally, not only do I prefer not to have added preservatives where I can help it... but I personally prefer the sweetness and softness of organic dried apricots (even if they dont look as appealing). Have you tried organic dried apricots? What do you prefer? ~ Bridgit

20.01.2022 Around 10 years ago now I started eating to a paleo template. I lost some weight, gained a lot more energy and my skin cleared up (yahoo!) It got me to wondering... what other aspects of my lifestyle could I "clean up"? ...and I realised that my skincare was a biggie. ... Because you know... if I'm going to all the trouble to source really good, high quality food... why would I want to spray, wash or rub the largest organ in my body (my skin) with chemical laden skincare products? So, I tried to 'pick up' the Paleo template and apply it to my skincare. I began looking for products with short ingredients lists, containing natural (mostly organic) ingredients, with names I recognised and could pronounce. But I found it harder and more confusing than I thought I would... There are SO MANY ingredients in big brand skincare products and I wound up doing a lot of DIY skincare - you know the baking soda, apple cider vinegar, coconut oil type of skincare - which my sensitive skin kinda hated. So I really struggled to find low-tox versions of the skincare products I used, that met my personal standards and didn't cause my skin to freak out. We're talking low-tox cleansers, toners, moisturisers, deodorants, shampoo, conditioners, makeup, makeup removal, body wash or soap, toothpaste... Not only that, it was expensive to buy all of those products in order to try them out. If you've gone through this kind of switch to low-tox product (or you're going through it now), I'm feeling for you! Which is why I created our new Low-Tox Skincare Packs These Low-Tox Skincare Packs bring together trial sizes of a range of our favourite products... so they're an easy, inexpensive way to 'make the switch' to more natural skincare products or to try something new. And these packs cover off on a lot of the skincare products we have in our bathrooms and skincare regimes It's the kind of pack I wish someone would have suggested to me when I was making the switch to more natural products. You can find our Low-Tox Skincare Packs here: ecologyskincare.com/product-c/bathroom-detox-starter-packs/

18.01.2022 #3. Worst Trigger Food For Rosacea Prone Skin: HOT BEVERAGES We’re talking coffee, tea, hot chocolate, ‘brothies’ and soups.. Around 30% of people surveyed by the National Rosacea Society have rosacea flare ups after drinking hot drinks... Why can hot drinks be aggravating for Rosacea? - The heat of the steam can warm the face while drinking, causing flushing - Hot drinks also tend to ‘warm the body’, causing dilation in the blood vessels of the face as the body tries to cool itself down - Dilation of blood vessels can drive underlying processes in people with rosacea. - Redness and skin irritation in the short term and progression of the condition in the long term Instead Try: - Waiting for hot drinks cool a little before drinking - Switching to cold or iced drinks like an iced coffee or iced matcha latte! 17.01.2022 Getting prepared for the colder months by starting to make a homemade cold/flu warming tonic This beauty will be fermenting for around 4-6 weeks, hoping as a result to warm any cold soul and give those bad bacteria a run for their money ~ Bridgit

16.01.2022 Being aware of the energy, people and projects you allow into your life and making the decision on what stays and what goes is super important! ...having a small family business is awesome, but I find that waay to often the lines become blurred and the business claims all... My husband and I are in the process of doing some lifestyle design for the right now, as well as making plans for what we want things to look like in the future... ... Are there any executive, CEO-type decisions you can make that will give you more of what you want and less of what you dont? ~ Crystal

15.01.2022 Green leafy vegetables! These amazing vegetables are packed full of nutrients like magnesium, vitamin C, fibre, B vitamins... Ideally we should be having at least 2 cups of leafy greens in our diets every day.... You can, eat them raw, chop them into your dishes, steam them, juice them, blitz them into your smoothies, get creative!! Some types of green leafy vegetables to get you started can include: silverbeet, spinach, kale, bokchoy, rainbow chard, lettuce, even your herbs like coriander, mint, parsley... ~ Bridgit

14.01.2022 "Just wanted you to know that I think your product is just great. I have been using the Rejuvenating Day and Night Cream for months now and find it suits me soooo well! Living in the tropics it is hard to find a product that suits the seasons up here - from beautiful warm sunshine to intense humidity, but so far all really great. I have had a bout of roseacea and a few other skin problems, but with this Cream, my skin is very happy. So good to its chemical free too!!" ~ Jan

14.01.2022 Some see a weed... I see herbal magic! Both dandelion root and leaves are core in Naturopathic medicine. A liver and digestive lover... dandelion is packed full of nutrients and antioxidants. Its one of my top herbs for acne sufferers.... You can eat dandelion leaves straight from the ground (be sure you know there has been no chemical spraying). But if you find the leaves too bitter... roasted dandelion root you buy from the store can make a delicious warm drink. You will fin a lot of herbal medicines are actually considered weeds so dont judge a book by its cover. ~ Bridigt

13.01.2022 My 10ml tin goes with me everywhere - Id be lost without it! It is not only my daily moisturiser but my lip balm, barrier cream, cuticle cream and the reason for my glowing skin ~ Callie ecologyskincare.com

12.01.2022 Isolation craft ideas! Make your very own smudge sticks using herbs from the garden! I personally used some sage, lavender and rosemary in mine, but you add thyme, pine needles, roses even peppermint.... Just wind some twine around your bunches and leave to dry before burning. ~ Bridgit

12.01.2022 You got this...

12.01.2022 Cod Liver oil can be amazing for the skin, especially for acne prone skin. With the combination of omega 3 fatty acids and naturally occurring vitamin A and D. But as with fish oil, not all cod liver oil is created equally. International labeling laws for cod liver oil enable any product that has higher DHA to EPA ratios to be called cod liver oil.... Even if the oil is actually from the flesh of fish similar to cod rather than the liver. This also means that synthetic forms of Vitamins A and D need to be added because these vitamins are not naturally occurring in fish flesh. This is where there can be issues for women or are pregnant or wanting to conceive. Because moderate doses of synthetic vitamin A can result in birth defects. Which is why its extremely important to talk to your health care practitioner before adjusting your supplement regime. In particular if youre pregnant or wanting to conceive. Be sure to have a look at the labels of cod liver before purchasing. If theres an exact figure for the amount of Vitamin A in the supplement then its more likely to not to be from cod liver and the Vitamin A is added. Where there is a range of Vitamin A on a product label, the Vitamin A is less likely to be added from a synthetic source. Which makes sense, because this will change depending on the fishs diet, season or where theyre caught etc. This is why we have chosen to stock the nordic natural range of cod liver oil, you can find out more about the benefits of cod liver oil for skin here: ecologyskincare.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-omega-3s-6s-for-/ ~ Bridgit

12.01.2022 #2. Worst Trigger Food For Rosacea Prone Skin: ALCOHOL We’re talking wine, beer, champagne and spirits. 52% of people in the National Rosacea Society survey have rosacea flare ups after drinking wine. And 42% of people have rosacea flare ups after drinking spirits... and we’re also talking the alcohol in topical skincare like toners Why can alcohol be aggravating for Rosacea? - Alcohol can have the same effect as sugar on our blood sugar levels. Alcohol and sugar both stimulate insulin release. Having high insulin levels over a long period of time can drive inflammation in the body - Increased inflammation in people with rosacea activates immune cells and proteins in the skin. Leading to redness and inflamed skin - Alcohol can also dilate blood vessels and high blood sugar can lead to damaged blood vessels. Both can contribute to increased redness and flushing - Alcohol also causes dehydration. Well hydrated cells help the body (and skin) regulate temperature so less flushing - Alcohol in skincare can strip skin of its protective fats and oils leading to redness and irritation Instead Try: - Avoiding all alcoholic drinks where you can - Choosing that ‘special occasion drink’ where you’re willing to accept the flushing that will happen when you drink it - Some of the delicious non- alcoholic drink alternatives on offer. Like Monday Distilleries yummy non alcoholic gin and tonic water Check out the blog on our website for more food triggers: ecologyskincare.com/5-trigger-foods-to-avoid-for-calming-r/

"I have been using your products for over a year now and my skin has definitely improved. 10.01.2022 The weeks are certainly feeling longer right now with the stage 4 restrictions in VIC... my husband and I have started a movie night ritual to help give some structure to our weeks and to have a Friday and Saturday night still feel different and fun... We made a list of the movies that we want to see from the last 10 years (plus our favourites that we would see again and again) and we choose one to stream on a Friday and Saturday night (our favourites are on a buy the D...VD list ...so Friday is our DVD favourites night and Saturday is our stream night) We make a picky dinner which is essentially an antipasto platter, turn the lights off, salt lamps on and sink into another world for a couple of hours whats working for you right now? ~ Crystal

08.01.2022 Unrelenting soundtrack of thoughts in your head, playing over and over? Thoughts of fear? Relationships? Replaying that embarrassing moment that you had years ago? Work issues? Family? Your own health? Thinking of things, you shouldnt have said or want to say? These endless loops of thoughts in your head, filling it up, taking you away from whats happening in the present. ... This is a normal process in response to stress or changes in your life. However if youre caught in an endless loop it can overwhelm and drain you. When this happens, you need to come up for air, having your own techniques to switch that brain off is needed. Sight: Try and get up and move location, shift what you see or have something close by that you can look at that makes you focus on something else. Sound: Music! Listen to your favourite tunes or find sounds that relax you (our founder Crystal likes to listen to singing bowls) Smell: Different smells will affect people in different ways. Find a smell that you enjoy, like a particular plant or essential oil. Taste: Try not to reach for those treats that you know wont make the situation any better. Awaken those taste buds with high flavour foods, invigorate your senses, literally. Touch: Place your feet on the floor or touch your hand to your heart. Bring yourself back into your body, rather than having your head in the clouds. ~ Bridigt

08.01.2022 I teach 15 classes a week at my local YMCA. I teach Pilates, movement and stretch and on my own time, I get in the water and do deep water running followed by a sauna. My product that l used for years did not last the distance in the pool and sauna and it was triple the price. Id always used Estee Lauder for a day and night cream. I dont really use toners or anything like that and I hardly wear makeup.... The other thing I always used on my skin is the Intensive Vaseline Care on my whole body after I shower. And Papaw cream is my go-to. I put the Pawpaw on my lips before I go in the water. But I found my other creams didnt last as well with swimming and just washed off. My skin would just feel like I had nothing on and in the sauna my skin would feel really tight. I was looking for something extra to suit my lifestyle swimming at the local pool and using the sauna. I wanted something that could last the distance Ecology has been great to pop on before exercise and before the sauna my skin feels hydrated and soft, it makes me feel refreshed. My Ecology Cream stops my skin drying out and stays on even after swimming. I always make sure I put it on my face before I go in the water. Then after I do the water activity, I usually have a sauna and I find the moisture just stays on my skin instead of my skin feeling dry after a sauna thats why I like it. I gave the product a trial with the little sample pots because I wanted to try all the different ones. and Ive found I love the yellow tin the best (the Soothing Baby Cream) I like the smell and the consistency on my skin. I use it daily before l head off to the gym, l also reapply after shower and wear to bed. The creams keep my skin soft and hydrated and I dont get that tight feeling after the pool and sauna I like the little trial packs because theyre handy to chuck in the swim bag too ~ Janette Thanks for sharing Janette! Its always such a win when you find something that goes the distance when youre in and out of highly chlorinated water all the time (chlorine can be very drying to skin) and using a sauna often and still your skin is feeling soft and hydrated! ecologyskincare.com

07.01.2022 How do I use my Konjac Sponge? Minimal effort, outstanding results, whilst going naturalllllll - just get that baby under running water and light squeeze until the sponge softens. You are then ready to cleanse by gently massaging your face with the sponge starting from the centre of the face and extending outwards in an upward direction. Any questions? Ask away ~ Callie

06.01.2022 "At the start of this year I had a reaction to one of my deodorants, which resulted in this painful red patch... It took some time to fully resolve itself, but by using the Replenishing cream on it, the redness and pain dramatically reduced even just overnight! I was so grateful that I had a pot on hand to use!" ... ~ Bridgit

06.01.2022 #1. Worst Trigger Food For Rosacea Prone Skin: SPICY FOODS (containing capsaicin) We’re talking chillies, hot sauce, capsiucum, paprika These foods contain capsaicin. A phytochemical compound that gives the ‘hot taste’ in foods.... 75% of people surveyed by the National Rosacea Society have rosacea flare ups after eating spices or spicy food Why can spicy foods be aggravating for Rosacea? - When we eat spicy foods, it creates a ‘warming’ of the body and a flushing on the face (like how some people sweat when they consume really spicy foods) Capsaicin also has an effect on the pain receptors in our skin that feel warmth Instead Try: - Experimenting with different ‘non-spicy’ herb combinations (Like turmeric, cumin, oregano, coriander, sage, thyme) for more info on turmeric, take a look at our: 5 Most Helpful Foods For Calming Rosacea - Swapping a spicy salsa for a fruity salsa - Giving dukkah a go for flavouring your chicken in place of a cajun spice mix Check out the blog on our website for more food triggers: ecologyskincare.com/5-trigger-foods-to-avoid-for-calming-r/

05.01.2022 In this day and age we all want to be doing things faster and quicker to get to the next task... But I would really encourage you to find the little things where you can slow down. For me it is taking time to put my moisturiser on. Im no professional but I just do what feels right and take my time to smell and generally massage it into my face. ... But it can be anything, like rather than gulping your tea down in the morning, take the time to sip on it, maybe even outside for a couple of minutes. ~ Bridigt
