25.01.2022 Reduce YOUR footprint today Small changes in routine can have a big impact on your life. By reducing your carbon footprint, even in a small way, we can do wonderful things for the environment. So - what can you change to preserve the environment for generations to come?... * Choose natural beauty products. The fewer chemicals applied to your skin, the fewer that end up in our waterways and the better for your skin. * Choose energy efficient appliances and a water saving shower head. * Use energy saving light bulbs. Not only will you reduce your energy consumption and carbon footprint, you'll save money as they last longer. * Switch your electrical appliances off instead of leaving them in "standby" mode. * Write a shopping list and stick to it, reducing food waste and impulse buying. * Use reusable shopping and produce bags, minimising plastics in our environment. * Recycle correctly. Check what can go into each of your bins, and where in your local area you can recycle e-waste, flammable liquids, etc. * Consider walking or cycling to your destination, reducing your transportation emissions. * And of course, invest in a reusable cup and water bottle. By making a decision to purchase from environmentally conscience brands and voting with your dollar, we can all do a little bit to help our beautiful planet. 25.01.2022 Eco friendly back to school So - you’ve decided this year will be all about your 7 R’s of sustainability but what about the kids going back to school. The book list is full of brand-new books, stationery and equipment required to get them through their year of learning, but the fact that most of it will eventually end up in landfill makes us shudder.... So, we’ve put together some hints for making back to school easier on the environment and budget. * Before purchasing stationery check what is left over from the year before. Most families end up with a stockpile of unused stationery at the back of their cupboards. * Purchase second-hand text-books or buy online versions. Even though the booklist states an updated version, most educators these days will be able to direct their students to the one or two differences. * Purchase second-hand uniforms. * Use a Bento style box for their snacks and lunch. These eliminate the use of plastic wrapped foods and can be used over and over again. Same with a quality reusable water bottle. * If you do need to purchase more stationery choose books made of recycled paper, pencils made from sustainable timber or biodegradable cornstarch, sustainable bamboo pens, PVC-free erasers, the list is endless. Do your research and make every little bit count this year. 1300 302 701 www.ecoluv.com.au Naomi Bokhout from Pexels #backtoschool #ecoluv #ecofriendly #fortheplanet #earthlove #sustainableaustralia #aussieschools #ethicaleco #ethicallyeco #ecogratitude #ecoaustralia #ecolifehacks #ethicalchoice #earthlove #schoolholidays #morningroutine #schoolsback #holidaysarefinallyover #mumlife See more

22.01.2022 #YouGotWhat? As another Christmas passes us by we have all received that gift - the one not quite suited to us, or we don’t like. Whatever the reason, how do we sustainably recycle it? Instead of throwing it away, consider one of the following ways to recycle, reuse or donate to those less fortunate. Re-gift or gift swap. If you know someone that would love the gift, consider re-gifting it. Or have a New Year’s gift swap par...ty, where everyone brings along their unwanted gifts, without judgement, and swaps for something they could use. Donate to a charity shop. Someone else can enjoy your gift and you have helped raise money towards an important cause. NB: Some charity shops will not accept some items. Donate to a refuge or local charity that supports people in need. Go to, or hold your own, clothes swap party. This could include your whole year’s worth of unwanted clothes. You could start your own New Year’s Clothes Swap tradition with your friends. Return or exchange your gift. This may not always be possible, especially without a receipt. And last, but not least, to prevent the same next year make a pact with your family and friends that you all make a list of presents you’d like to receive, or stick with gift vouchers. Or better still, spend the money having a meal together. Remember, it's not about the money spent, but about the joy and gratitude in giving and receiving. What is the worst gift you’ve ever received? 13.01.2022 #WednesdayWisdom Your oven needs to be cleaned frequently to prevent the build of nasty bacteria. But using toxic oven cleaners is not only bad for the environment, but extremely bad for your health. Don't you ever wonder why they instruct you to wear gloves, eye protection and a mask? A great tip is to mix 1/2 cup baking soda with water until it is a paste-like consistency. Using a brush, smear the entire inside of your oven an...d oven door, and leave overnight (you can also use this to clean your oven racks and trays). In the morning, mix a combination of vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the inside of the oven, using a damp microfibre cloth to remove the residue. Some harder to remove bits may require a scourer to remove entirely. Or ...... you could call Ecoluv. We use our own Australian made Natural Deep Cleaner to safely clean your oven, without leaving any nasty smell or residue. Looking forward to your call. 1300 302 701 www.ecoluv.com.au #ecoluv #australianeco #ecofriendly #cleanhome #ecolifehacks #ethicalchoice #earthlove #healthyhome #sparklingclean #microfibre #ecofriendlycleaning #homecare #homecleaningtips #greencleaning #earthfriendly #naturelover #greenhome #naturalhome #melbournehome #cleangreen See more

12.01.2022 Baby its Warm Outside Now that the weather is warming up, here are some handy tips for keeping your home cool during the summer months, whilst minimizing costs and your environmental imprint. Insulate your home keeps your home cool in summer and warm in winter.... Draught proof any gaps / cracks in your home to minimize heat entering and cool air leaving. Use external shading blinds and internal curtains to prevent the sun coming in via windows. When the temperature begins to drop in the evening, open doors and windows to flush warm air from your home and let fresh air enter. Plant trees and shrubs to buffer windows and walls against sun and harsh wind. Sip ice-cold drinks, or use a damp, icy cloth on the back of your neck or other pressure points (eg. Wrists). Or put your feet in a bucket of cold water. Try not to cook big meals using the stove or oven. Try eating some delicious summer salads Have a cold shower before bed. Choose breathable, loose fitting fabrics to wear. Use breathable cotton sheets on your bed. A ceiling fan or upright fan is another option. Placing a bowl or glass of ice in front of the fan will act like a mini home made air conditioner. If you need that little extra, there are plenty of eco-friendly cooling systems available, or if you have a system already in place, clean any vents / filters and check your manufacturer’s guide for best practice operation and maintenance of your system. 11.01.2022 #discernment At Ecoluv, we take our three (3) core values very seriously - DISCERNMENT, AWARENESS, RESPECT - but what do these values stand for? According to Cambridge Dictionary, the meaning of "discernment", a noun, is "the ability to judge people and things well".... Ecoluv practices discernment by choosing: Chemical free cleaning processes and product People to join our family who align with our values People who present professionally and care about themselves and others. 08.01.2022 Fruits of the Forest Over 2000 Australian rainforest plant species bear fruit, most with a fleshy interior to allow the seed inside to mature. As the fruits ripen, their distinctive bright colours entice many birds and mammals, resulting in some being deposited a long way from the parent plant, assisting in their survival and regeneration. The brightly coloured fruits can be extremely toxic to humans, however our Indigenous Australian’s have had learnt ways to adapt cer...tain fruits not only for eating, but for medicinal purposes. 05.01.2022 Why Ecoluv Choosing a cleaner can be a very personal thing and is about more than just the money. You need to know about their experience and reputation, the quality of services they provide and their alignment with your home and family. ... Some things we suggest you consider include: The products and equipment used. Are products full of harmful toxic chemicals or do their products minimize negative impacts on the environment and your health? Is the equipment clean and in good working order? Are they trustworthy? Does your cleaner have a Police Check? How does the company care for your keys should you wish to give them a set? Are they insured for any damage that may occur? Do they have COVID safe protocols in place? Realistic expectations. As good as a cleaner would like to be, it is almost impossible to do a faultless clean of every nook and cranny in a regular clean. Also, the longer time in between cleans, the more work is required, so this will rarely save money in the long term. Is what you’ve asked them to do safe? Would you climb on a large ladder to clean your 2nd story windows without safety equipment? Can you move your extremely heavy sofa to clean underneath it? Ecoluv take pride in not only caring for our clients, but our teams and the planet’s health and safety. Hourly cleaning costs can vary between $25 - $70 per hour, depending on the company, or person you choose. Consider not necessarily WHAT the hourly rate is, but what can be ACHIEVED by your chosen cleaner in that hour. Consider the company’s ethos and choose wisely. 1300 302 701 David Rojas from Pexels #ecoluv #healthyhome #ecofriendly #homecleaningtips

05.01.2022 #TuesdayTip Do you clean your reusable grocery and produce bags? They come in contact with trolleys, conveyor belts and hands, not to mention dirt, juice and germs from your produce and raw meats and fish. ... After each shopping trip, place your reusable bags in the washing machine with some eco-friendly washing powder. Allow to air dry and they will be good as new. 04.01.2022 Not my cuppa ... Coffee Did you know that your coffee machine may be serving up more than your morning coffee?? Studies have indicated most machines tested had yeast, mould and bacteria growing in their chambers. YUK! ... To prevent a build of nasties, your coffee machine should be deep cleaned once a month. Most brands will have instructions and descaling products to use to complete this task, however a simple toxin free solution is to use equal parts of white vinegar and cold water to run through a cycle. Always remember to flush the machine with fresh water once more, before making your cup of luv. 01.01.2022 #CupofLuv How Clean is your Kettle? All kettles will develop a layer of scale at some point, but do you know how to clean it safely and effectively, without the use of chemicals? We do .......... Half fill your kettle with equal parts water and vinegar and bring to boil. Unplug once it has switched off. If you can’t use vinegar, you can try lemons or a tablespoon of bicarb of soda. Leave the solution to stand in the kettle for at least half an hour. Empty and rinse the kettle. Fill the kettle with clean water and boil again. Allow water to cool and discard. Wipe over with a damp microfibre and buff with a clean, dry microfibre. Remember to use your discarded water (not the vinegar/water solution) on your plants. Now you can sit down and enjoy a cuppa, knowing that your kettle is sparkling clean. 1300 302 701 www.ecoluv.com.au cottonbro from Pexels
