25.01.2022 The destruction of our environment has more implications than just an ugly view. It means the loss of people’s livelihoods, poverty and famine. It means the death of our animals and disease in humans. Each time you make an environmentally conscious decision you help stop the destruction. What you do is important.

16.01.2022 Love it or hate it, oil is a component of many of the products and service we use. From fuel for vehicles, electricity and heating, to the production of plastics, cosmetics, pesticides and synthetic materials, oil is a commodity in high demand. It is estimated that in 2016, 80,622,000 barrels of oil were produced PER DAY worldwide. But it’s production takes a toll on our world. The extraction and refining process contributes significantly to greenhouse emissions, it’s changes... the landscape and generates seismic noise which affects wildlife causing animals to flee their habitats. And then there are the oil spills which penetrate the feathers of birds and the fur of mammals making them less buoyant and less capable of regulating their body temperature. It impacts animals who rely on scent to finds their offspring, causing babies to be abandoned and starve. There are things you can do everyday to reduce the demand for petroleum products: * Use solar panels to generate electricity * Switch to reusable containers made from glass, ceramic, metal, or cloth instead of plastic * Take a reusable water bottle with you when you leave the house * Educate yourself on the production process for items you use and the challenges we face around processing waste. ecomplice.com.au
10.01.2022 Sea turtles are amazing creatures. They have existed for hundreds of millions of years, keep our oceans healthy by nurturing sea grasses that provide protection and breeding grounds for many marine animals, controlling jellyfish and sponge populations and transporting nutrients. Of the 7 species of sea turtles in the world, the International Union of Conservation of Nature lists 6 of them as Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable. They are getting caught in fishing nets, dying from stomachs full of plastic, getting caught in oil spills, losing habitat due to beach development and being killed for food, their shells or leather. We all play a role in what’s happening to our world. The products we buy, the demand we create and our day to day habits all impact our environment. Choose wisely.
07.01.2022 "It's come to the point on Earth where humans have created so much waste, that nature has now started to incorporate it into its everyday cycle of life." https://www.dailymail.co.uk//The-hermit-crab-forced-live-t
06.01.2022 The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef ecosystem in the world. Home to thousands of species of marine life and the playground for people seeking to experience nature’s exquisite beauty. But the reef is dying. Since 2016, 50% of the reef has been destroyed from coral bleaching events, due to sea temperatures rising. Burning of fossil fuels is still one of the biggest drivers of rising temperatures. Fossil fuels are used in the production of many of the products we purchase. Keep this in mind next time you shop. Choose products made from renewable sources and responsible practices. ecomplice.com.au
