20.01.2022 Activity for the weekend! Match the butterfly to the plant. Take a look around and check out which butterfly is liking which plant. Let us know what you see in the comments below. If you don't know the name of the butterfly then just describe basic colours. These pairings are a vital part of the web that makes our world.

19.01.2022 Right Tree, Right Place: Wild about Truro and Cornwall is a day long conference on Friday 18th September with 7 varied presentations and talks exploring many is...sues around tree planting and rewilding for nature and carbon capture. The conference will explore what's going on locally as well as touch on the sometimes thorny debate around the relative costs and benefits of planting and/or rewilding. There will be a Q and A after the talks where we shall be welcoming additional panellists from Cornwall Council and other bodies so please come with your questions, with an open mind, with curiosity and enthusiasm. Among a great selection of inspirational speakers we are very pleased to welcome Ian Bateman who is Professor of Environmental Economics at the University of Exeter where he Directs the Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute (LEEP). As a member of the UK Natural Capital Committee (NCC), Ian advises Cabinet Ministers on the design of environmental, agricultural and land use policy. He has a long standing interest in highlighting the right place for the right trees to not only store carbon but also to provide habitat for Britain’s beleaguered wildlife and deliver the recreational, health and other benefits of woodland for all members of society. Truro City Council is already working with nature to improve the environment and encourage us all to understand how we really can each help to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss, increase knowledge of the natural environment and integrate it more closely in the life of the city. Liam Shoesmith and Chris Waddell will cast more light on this work. Steve and Tamara Davey will guide us round their small venture on the edge of Dartmoor, which was featured recently in a Guardian article about small scale rewilding projects. Chris Jones is well known locally for his work at Woodland Valley Farm and the Cornwall Beaver Project He will talk about how agroforestry can help the natural environment and us in many ways, not least in flood mitigation. Cheryl Marriott and Conor Kendrew both work closely with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, promoting the value of Cornwall’s incredibly rich and valuable natural environment and how that already works for wildlife and combating climate change.
