23.01.2022 Tough day at Ecotect Architects today!

22.01.2022 A blast from the past- we are very proud of this home. https://customhomesonline.com.au/a-castle-in-the-sand/

22.01.2022 Cities providing public spaces for real life connections.....

22.01.2022 One of the critical aspects of scoping a vision is sketch visualization early in order to alleviate anxieties from stakeholders. Fear of the unknown is always an impediment to getting good initiatives implemented. It has been our experience that sketches like what we have done for Swanbourne will enable serious planning and detailed urban designs to proceed with less ambiguity once the process starts in earnest. This is always a recommended approach by our team as a precursor or a preliminary review of previous work, prior to commencement of master planning and schematics in more realistic ways. http://nexusarchitectural.com/railway-station-experience/

22.01.2022 Built with a focus on natural materials including hempcrete, this small home near Margaret River will provide Perth couple, Andrea and Holger with a comfortable, healthy, low-bills retirement. Featured in the latest Sanctuary Magazine, the house - designed by our very own James Shaw - captures the winter sun and keeps the residents comfortable at any time of the year with minimal energy use. Because of the thermal regulation of Hemp, they wont even require an air conditione...r in summer! Want to find out more? Check out the story in the new Sanctuary Magazine Autumn Edition, or contact us! Stay safe at home everyone!

17.01.2022 Why do we ignore Sustainable Architecture? As a society we are quite uneducated as to the importance of sustainable architecture and solar design, and the risks and implications to the planet should we keep ignoring it. But why? In our newest blog, we discuss our thoughts and what we believe can be small changes now, that can make a big impact for future generations. You can read about it here: http://ecotect-architects.com/the-direction-of-sustainable/

13.01.2022 Weve been following our renovation on Quarry Street in Fremantle and wanted to share with you a few updates! As you can see, the alfresco deck now has the Everbright roofing over, supported by a lightweight truss frame. Positioned high over the existing eaves, it appears to float above making it a beautiful addition. Moving inside and the dressing room is taking shape, there will be a chandelier hanging from the centre of the ceiling rose. The north east facing window le...ts in soft morning light into the space. We cant wait to show you the next stage! #ecotectarchitects#pethrenovation#sustainableliving#sustainablehomeswa#pertharchitects#perthbuilders#awardwinningarchitect#ecoliving#renovationsperth#perthdreamhomes#fremantlearchitecture See more

13.01.2022 With the Swanbourne Precinct taking shape over the next few years and is set to change the way we view economical and sustainable living in Australia, leading Architect Garry Baverstock from Ecotect Architects explains his views on sustainable architecture in Perth, and why Ilios - the new urban development set to wow Swanbourne - is the way forward. Check out his comments here: http://ecotect-architects.com/design-statement-from-ecotec/

13.01.2022 Coming out of this pandemic there is also likely to be more importance on 'living architecture' - such as green roofs and walls, rooftop gardens, natural light and ventilation - and a shift away from the resilience of air conditioning and heating. There is a great article on Urban Developer discussing living architecture, which can be found here: https://theurbandeveloper.com//green-space-architecture-af The article highlights the importance of well-designed developments,... such as Ilios - the new garden sanctuary in the heart of Cottesloe, as being the way forward. Developments such as Ilios, offering passive solar design and a new approach to urban dwellings, appear to be the perfect balance of sustainable living and connection to the outside. Our relationship with nature, and its mental health benefits, have for a long time not been possible with high density, city-living. Ilios changes all that and is well worth a look also. For full blog click here: http://ecotect-architects.com/urban-development-post-covid/

12.01.2022 Check out our latest post with Garry Baverstocks thoughts regarding a recent story on Four Corners about authorities allowing the construction industry to cheapen buildings. We have seen some horrific outcomes... http://ecotect-architects.com/apartment-buildings-in-austr/

12.01.2022 Terrific initiative by the Spirit of Place - Bayswater Town Centre Workshop, and it is bound to lead to socio-economic improvements for the whole area. Eco-Architects have a multi-purpose facility in the Bayswater area and the potential for future growth for the whole of Bayswater is immense. If your organisation is looking to rent some space in the area, let us know.

10.01.2022 Ecotect has been involved in a charming project in Fremantle wed love to showcase! With some small additions, weve added a dressing room and small ensuite connected to the master bedroom that opens out onto a deck covered by a solar pergola. The deck and pergola make an outdoor room that joins the kitchen/dining area, with the design allowing winter light into the dining/kitchen and protection from the summer heat. We are opening up the existing north wall of the kitchen by introducing sliding folding doors to maximise the indoor/outdoor feel. At the front of the house a local stonemason is building a limestone block wall to match the old limestone of the house, Freo style.

09.01.2022 Apartments that have not been built to code specifications are very topical right now and Ecotect have been busy working on a special project to deliver options surrounding an existing apartment building located in Crawley, between the Swan River and Kings Park. Check out more about this project here - http://ecotect-architects.com/strathearn-apartment/

08.01.2022 As we all know, Australians started 2020 with the most devastating bushfire crisis we have faced to date. With no signs of slowing down, the fires have been topics of daily discussions within many circles, passionate people with opinions on how we can re-build and move beyond this crisis currently crippling the nation. We came across a brilliant article https://www.science.org.au//statement-regarding-australian that mentions that everything, including urban planning; bu...ilding standards; habitat restoration; biodiversity and species preservation; and land, water and wildlife management will need careful and measured consideration. With all this in mind, Ecotect-Architects are offering a one-hour, FREE Architectural Advisory Service, to those affected in bushfire regions to help them improve their planning strategy and move forward. Passive solar homes are naturally resistant and safe havens for bushfires if designed correctly, and we would like to offer our expertise on the subject to those that need it. Contact our office directly on (08) 9286 3811 for further details.

08.01.2022 Dont miss out on the opportunity to find out more about these stunning, environmentally conscious homes with every detail meticulously thought out (only 6 remaining). Visit www.swanbournevillagetrust.com.au for further details.
