16.01.2022 One of the most frequently asked questions by our customers is "how do you know if its really a kilo of worms?" The simple answer is we light extract all of our worms down to pure worm from the soil and weigh out each pack before sending them out. Worms are for lack of a better word allergic to sunlight. Meaning when you place them in a row they will compete to burrow down away from the light allowing soil to be scraped off them. Repeating this process over the period of about an hour we are able to seperate large numbers of worms from the soil ready to be weighed out. So rest assured that a kilo of worms from Eco Valley Worms is really a kilo and not just a handful of worms shipped out in some soil.

14.01.2022 Another common misconception about worms is that they eat the roots of peoples plants and lawns. This is not true. Worms actually eat the bacteria that breaks down organic matter. Meaning unless something is dead and decaying the worms cannot eat it. This little clip is a perfect example of this. The worms are breaking down the pumpkin however the good bacteria and nutrients in the worm cast have caused all of the pumpkin seeds to strike.

13.01.2022 Love seeing baby African Night Crawlers coming back. After a tough couple of years for worms we are still working hard to get Australias favourite fishing worms back on the market. Stay tuned for updates and tips as we work on our new guide to breeding and growing your own crawlers for your future fishing trips. Africans are prolific breeders and grow very fast. Weve been growing these little guys in a small round worm farm to see how they will grow for you at home. Weve been feeding these guys on cow manure and veggie scraps and they are doing great.

10.01.2022 Spring is here and we are doing everything we can to get our Bedrun crawlers back up onto the website and for sale here at the farm. Its been an extremely tough couple of years with the heat and drought hitting our region much like all of eastern Australia. A change in set up and we are hoping to secure a steady supply for years to come. So stay tuned. African night crawlers have always been our favourite worm here at eco valley. Whats your number one choice of worm for your farms or for fishing?

09.01.2022 As always we have still got massive interest in our fishing worms. The African Night Crawler gives you the best of both worlds with a huge appetite for composting and an excellent growth rate and size for fishing. Unlike the European Night Crawler they dont leak the slimy yellow secretions when placed on a hook or fed to aquarium fish which makes them a much more desirable choice for fish bait or fish food. We are slowly getting back to our commercial numbers of these ready ...for spring with our Bedrun Night Crawler packs still my favourite choice when looking for the best composting worm with the added benefit of being an excellent fishing worm. They will work well in all of the in home worm farms with the only effort required a seperate tray if you wish to fatten some extras for fishing. If you are interested in growing your own fishing worms or aquarium food send me a message and we can talk about how best to get you started. See more

05.01.2022 Tune in tonight at 8pm on "Evenings" ABC Brisbane(612) . Ill be chatting about Verge gardening and how to ensure your plants survive the heat. :-)

04.01.2022 Attention Gardeners! I have had several enquiries this week regarding how to use worms in your garden. As earthworms are almost impossible to grow in a farm environment the best thing I have found is to incorporate your compost worm farm with your garden. There is a great product on the market for this which is a worm feast farm. The worm feast is an in garden compost worm farm which allows you to use all of your kitchen waste and other organic waste and recycle it straight ...into your garden where it will work wonders for your soil. Worm cast helps to improve soil structure by introducing helpful microorganisms into the soil along with breaking down clay and aerating the soil. Along with these benefits the worm tea that leaks from these in garden worm farms attracts native earthworms into your garden bed helping to improve the subsoil structure as well. The great thing about them is they are super low maintenance and the worms do all the work for you transporting the nutrients from the waste into your garden. If you are more into the DIY or Recycling lifestyle you can make your very own worm tower farm at home using some simple instructions we can provide you with using a piece of PVC pipe. See more
