23.01.2022 Happy World Environment Day! Check out this inspiring video narrated by a 10 year old child. Let's all do our bit to make this a better world to live in! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqU-oC9-55Y

20.01.2022 Welcome to the new school year in 2020! We had many fun and exciting adventures last year and are looking forward to seeing what our 2020 groups will discover, create and experience! We can't wait to see you up at North Head, Manly!

19.01.2022 It's with a heavy heart that I post this notification, but with the developing situation regarding Coronavirus, and concerns from the community, it seems in the best interest of everyone to suspend all EcoXplore excursions until further notice. This decision takes into account the recommendations currently being put in place by the Department of Education where all school excursions are currently cancelled. As disappointing as this is for us all, we need to put the health of... the students, their families, staff and the wider community as the number one priority. This is an ongoing situation and we'll be updating our clients with any new information as it becomes available. We look forward to rescheduling excursions as soon as circumstances permit. We thank you for your support and understanding and hope that everyone stays safe in these uncertain times.

17.01.2022 It's National Threatened Species Day! Time to celebrate diversity, and a time to highlight at-risk species and what is being done to save them. Be inspired by this great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeYKoOK1JEI

17.01.2022 Activities for kids to celebrate Earth Day! Happy 50th Earth Day!!! We are in an unprecedented time and many of us might find it difficult to focus on environmental issues/nature with the daily pressures and challenges that we are currently experiencing with the COVID-19. However, it is motivating to know that nature can and actually is a healing entity and it creates a space for us to re-energise, feel a sense of connection, a sense of place and a sense of belonging. It’s ...a perfect time to appreciate and value our incredible world that we live in. Instead of looking at the current situation as ‘restricting’, we can view it as ‘liberating’ and take the opportunity to give our children a glimpse beyond the now all too familiar walls of our abodes and get outside! There are some guidelines that need to be followed, so please make sure you keep up to date with what your local legislation is regarding to being out and about. Most of the suggestions in the list below should fit under the essential allowance of ‘exercise’ and/or can be done in your backyard. Earth day (and every day!) is a perfect day to get your ‘nature groove’ on! Here are just a few ideas to get you started! If you have any other ideas to share, please do we’d love to hear from you! Go on a nature scavenger hunt (bugs, birds, plants, trees, flowers, ‘traces’ of animals, etc) Click on the link below for a couple of free templates. You can adapt for different age groups for example, if you are looking for flowers, younger children can look for colours and older kids can look for actual types of flowers. Put on a pair of gloves and go pick up rubbish in your neighbourhood or at a local beach, reserve, natural area (three boxes ticked: exercise, nature fix AND cleaning up the environment!) Have a backyard picnic or go ‘camping’ in your backyard even if you don’t sleep in the tent, putting it up is a great ‘fort’ for the kids! Build a fairy home out of natural items. You can use props too! Click the link below to find inspiration! Plant a tree, flowers, veggies or other plants in your yard Set up an outdoor obstacle course Gather natural art supplies (sticks, leaves, seeds, etc) to create masterpieces later inside when you can’t get out Go for a bike ride Play in the mud Go for a walk/hike Do a sound ‘map’ - Click the link below to find more detailed information and a free template to use! Cloud watching Make a nature sculpture or nature mandala outside Walk or bike to a local oval or nature reserve and play soccer, jump-rope, frisbee, etc *Click here for a link to some resources from EcoXplore! http://www.ecoxplore.com.au/resources/

15.01.2022 It's time to stand up for this incredible planet we live on - children and adults alike! With solidarity, we CAN make a difference! https://www.facebook.com/StrikeClimate/videos/506275030190175/?v=506275030190175

01.01.2022 Hi everyone! I hope this finds you healthy and safe and still finding time to explore and discover in the great outdoors. Our previous post provided a list of activities (and some links to free resources) to keep the kiddos happy and enthusiastically entertained outside during these sometimes testing times. Take a gander at that if you have a chance! For now, I wanted to share a very simple, yet fun and entertaining activity I did with my children the other day. I reckon it... could be used from very young up to 99! (I think I had as much fun as the kids did! ;) This activity can be done anywhere, and in fact we did it on a walk around the neighbourhood! It's called, 'Wild Letters' and the idea is to find as many of the natural items on the sheet as possible, that begin with a certain letter. For older kids, you can expand and add more things you discover in nature that start with that letter. To use our free 'Wild Letters' template, and have access to other resources, click on the link below. Stay safe but don't lose your 'wild' side! http://www.ecoxplore.com.au/resources/
