In her early 60’s, with a mild scoliosis and osteopenia, this legend can dead lift 30kg, back squat 12.5kg and military press 12.5kg. There is no reason why we can’t gradually increase the weights.... Strength training can, over time, help to protect the bones, reduce the risk of osteoperosis fractures and help prevent bone loss.



21.01.2022 To some people it may seem a little bit vain when in the gym you see someone filming themselves. My strength coach asks me to do this for him. You see when doing the back squat, especially when the weights are increased, form is really important. The weight i’m squating is 42.5kg. I’m aiming to get up to 80kg. Not only will i send this to my coach for him to analyse, i also use it so i can correct my form too. ... For me, i can see i need to get my hips a little bit lower.

20.01.2022 Today was the end of an era. My last Active Adults class. In the new year i’ll be doing Remedial Massage at In-Line Physio on Wednesdays. Very excited to be joining the team, but sadly means i can’t take the class anymore. It has been a bit of an unexpected year, however, these amazing ladies kept going. During lock down we went on Zoom with exercise and a coffee and cake morning, as restrictions eased we moved to the park in Samford, in the cold, winter mornings, then b...ack to the gym. Id like to say the picture is my work, but it isnt Ingredients Sloppy bit 6 x tomatoes 1 red capsicum 3 cloves garlic Oregano Ground cumin Smoked paprika Cayenne pepper Chop and pop in a blender, give it a good whizz. Bulky bit 3 x tins 4 bean mix 1 x tin sweet corn 5 x mushrooms 2 x onions Chop onions and gently fry in olive oil Add beans, chopped mushrooms and sweetcorn Pour in the sauce Cook on a low heat for 30 mins

13.01.2022 The Farmers Carry. Such a great exercise. I did them accidentally yesterday, well, it wasnt planned!!... I should know better, i used to manage an aquatic centre, and Im pool plant qualified. I havent dosed my pool with chlorine for at least 3 weeks, just didnt occur to me, as my nice pool man who looks like Santa clause did it for me last month I noticed it was looking a tad murky and a little greener than it should. Noice!! So a quick trip to Pool Werx, the very nice man popped the 2 x 15 litre drums of liquid chlorine in the car for me, but I had to farmers carry them down the garden to the pool. Theyre pretty heavy (i only wanted to do 1 trip so obviously took them both ) great lesson to learn in terms of pool maintenance, and discovering i quite like the exercise and I now have a clean pool. The farmers carry targets your entire upper and lower body, and also your core. More specifically, they strengthen the muscles in your biceps, triceps, forearms, shoulders, upper back, trapezius, quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, lower back, obliques, transverse abdominis, and rectus abdominis.

02.01.2022 Andrea has been doing a great job strengthening her wrist and forearm after breaking her wrist at the beginning of March this year. Andrea found it very difficult to do a reverse curl, when we first started her recovery 9 weeks ago. After consistently doing wrist strengthening exercises I gave her, Andrea managed 3 sets of 15 reverse curls with a 1kg dumb bell. This is great progress, a big well done to her
